Question, when Ring advise that they will send out a new replacement device. In your experience was it a new device or a refurbished device?

I've had both. No issues with either.

@precessional8087 Why were you sent a refurbed one instead of a new one?

Why not? You can't expect there to be an infinite amount of new devices to be available. Would you rather Ring fixed/refurbed faulty devices and sent them out as replacements, or just throw them all away and add to the ever growing problem of waste and plastic?

@precessional8087 Woooh, only asked a question out of interest! However, to answer your question, if I have a device that’s been in operation for less than a month, then I’d expect a new device. In fact, if a supplier’s product failed within 12 months (minimum) I’d like a new device. However, if the device is outside of warranty or I caused accidental damage to it, then I’d have no issues accepting a refurb device. PS These devices are expensive to buy!

@gurias442 No issue, I think you have read too much into the reply - you asked me why I was sent one, I asked why not and speculated why I might have been/why I had no issue with it being refurbed. As for your specific example, certainly in the UK within 12 months the onus is on the retailer to provide you a new/exchange item in most cases. Outside of 12 months you will then have to chase the manufacturer. With Ring, if you have a premium plan then no chasing is required - just follow all their troubleshooting steps and if the device is deemed by them to be faulty they will provide you with a replacement device

@precessional8087 A Great Person once told me not to read tone in emails as I was on the cusp of launching “Office War 3”. Seriously, I do apologise for any misunderstanding on my behalf. Interesting, didn’t realise they still support you after 12 months, that’s pretty cool.

@gurias442 Yep, with the plus plan or whatever it is called faulty devices are covered, which makes it even more great value than it already is!
