I keep getting woken up by a cat in Person Mode on both my spotlight and floodlight. Is this happening to anyone else?

Cats trigger my flood in person mode as well.

This is how you rectify the situation.

Christina this is what we need to do. I’m so sick of irresponsible cat owners who think cats should freely roam the neighborhood.

My neighbor thinks she is supposed to feed all the strays. she calls them in to feed them but doesn’t own any of them. She’d be pissed if I started trapping them.

Lord have mercy, I’m so tired of hearing about people complaining about the odd loose cat. If that’s the worst you have to deal with in life, count yourself lucky. lol

Yes it is the worst thing I have to deal with in regards to my Backyard FLCam. I have the FLCam for security. I am often away from home and my wife is home alone. It has occurred so many times with cats setting off alerts and waking her up and scaring her in the middle of the night, that when I go away I have to turn off motion detection, which defeats the purpose of the Cam. I have a neighbor who harbors feral cats and getting alerts a dozen times a night is not exactly "the odd loose cat. ". So count yourself lucky that you don't have to deal with it. Stop assuming that what you have to deal with applies to everyone. It doesn't.

@quade turn off notifications while sleeping.
by (670 points)
Exactly, mine are turned off from Midnight to 6 Am.

@segment9 that defeats the point. I want to be alerted if somebody is creeping around my house or cars in the middle of the night.

The doorbell did its job. That cat looked like it was doing something shady.

Well, if the cat is in person mode then it will trigger it every time  But yes I have cats and raccoons trigger mine as well and strangely sometimes it doesn't trigger when there is a person.

@pelt3123 my critters are all in critter mode, horizontal on all fours, not vertical like people. And, like you, sometimes a person won't register - but, my older Kuna brand porch light camera works reliably.

Cats, skunk, raccoons, opossum. Frequently. I had to turn off my chime so I didn't get woken up, but what kind of security is that? I think Ring's "People Only" setting is worthless marketing bullsh*t.

You spelt bullshit wrong.

Do you really want to be notified about motion while sleeping? Turn off notifications.
by (3.2k points)
@segment9 if someone is roaming around my house at night, I would want to be woken up.

From my understanding, reading your post and replies, it sounds like your security system is doing its job. Can you explain more in depth of the issue that you are having, or post footage? Is the cat causing harm? Do you know who’s cat it is? What is the destruction? Ring is a motion sensing security device.
by (2.5k points)
No it has a person feature that is only supposed to sense people and not cats.

@disciple the bastard wakes me up.

I read that as a cat was dressed as a person. It’s been a long day ‍♂️

Happy ending. Found the cat owner and they’re going to keep it inside at night:)

I've got a damned pigeon that regularly sets mine off, it doesn't even need to stretch it's wings out and pretend to be a person

Yes, I dismantled my Spotlight and my floodlight camera put them in the box and sent them back to Amazon funny. You should say that because I'm still getting notifications even though I've returned both sides both lights. And deleted the app.
