I use both equally. Home is set every night.

@halvorson it arms the door and window sensors but not the motion detector so you can still move about in your home.

@halvorson I have contact sensors on all my exterior doors and the one set to main does the entry delay and the secondary doors immediately set off alarms. I have an echo dot in the bedrooms announce such and such door open because I babysit a grandchild and have a pool in backyard.

@rid21 did you have to setup a routine for each echo dot separate to do this? We are just hooking up all of our echo dots and I couldnt seem to see a way to have them group devices together to make the announcement on all devices.

@market406 if I remember correctly I had to create routine for each door I wanted notification on and to which device to announce it to.

@halvorson go to routines and then this is how I have it set
by (2.6k points)
@rid21 yes that is how I set mine up. We have about 6 or 7 echo dots throughout various rooms in our house and want sure if i needed to go in and setup this routine for each dot separately or if there was something I was missing.

@market406 supposedly there is a way to announce it on all dots but haven’t quite figured that out yet, but I can hear the one in my bedroom at the back end of my house anywhere.

Click on routines first and then on routines screen click on add up in right corner

Sorry I put the pictures backwards flip flop them as to what to do
by (2.2k points)
@halvorson then click on each of these to set them up

@halvorson this is what I get when I choose an action

Choose device is at bottom

@halvorson try doing each step first and then save shouldn’t be grayed out

@rid21 more specifically, it "can" do that. you choose for each sensor to be armed in home mode, away mode, or both
by (2.2k points)
@methylal yea I have seen that. Thanks for reminding me.

It would still be set up the way I have it in “home” at night with all door sensors armed and motion detector in kitchen unarmed.

I use both. We use home at night and during the day even when home because have little kids and wife is working from home. If we leave then we arm away to activate all of our motion detectors. We have two doors set to main doors that use entry delay.

@halvorson awesome! LOL it's good to know I'm good for something :-).

Can assure you though, I kind of suck at basketball LOL.

@horoscope I have thought about doing the always away but husband would forget when he gets up in morning and wake the whole house. I wish Alexa guard could be set on away when I am home because I have some windows on back of house that I would like protected with the glass break.

@halvorson I'm afraid not only can I not play basketball well, I'm not even that good-looking LOL.

@market406 I did find this online- need to be in the other rooms when door has been opened to see if it announces it on all: Currently, enabling Ring alerts in the Alexa app turns on the alerts for every Echo device in your home.

Found the announce option when adding action click on messaging and it gives you option of all devices. Just updated my routines.
