Do I need a ring bridge to use the wired floodlight just to work as a typical floodlight with no smart capabilities? I don’t care much for the notifications and all that, I would just like a flood light and the ring looks nicely made and will give me the option to add to a ring network in the future.

The Ring Bridge is only for the lights without cameras. You will not need the bridge for any light with a camera.

The opposite goes if your buying their floodlight without a camera. You will need a bridge.

@falsetto I was interested in the floodlight without the camera but just looking for it to act as a standard floodlight without smart features so I didn’t think I needed to purchase the bridge.

@transilient103 only need the bridge if you want it to connect to wifi and be a smart light.

You can install it as a floodlight only, but it will act up and turn on at all hours with motion. My neighbor has one installed without the bridge.

@pentosan53231 well it’s supposed to turn on with motion, no?

@transilient103 correct, my only point was that it will also turn on during the day too.

You will need the bridge to get it started the way you want it. Without the bridge, it will turn the lights on during the day, the system basically sucks until the initial setup is performed. After that you can use it exactly as you want
