I need advice on people that have cameras inside your home. I currently have four set up throughout our house and one is in a very common room where the family is at all the time. I have Alexa everywhere in the home too. Is there a setting I could use either on the Ring app or with Alexa that will only monitor certain cameras when we are home and then turn them on when we are away?

If they’re Ring stick up cams, only way I’ve found so far is to manually toggle Record Motion on each cam Been looking for an alternative and have tried Alexa, SmartThings, Simple Commands and IFTT but no luck

If it is a Ring camera you can turn off monitoring from the Ring app. If they are Amazon devices it varies by the device. The Echo Show 5 has a physical shutter that blocks the lense.

If you’re using Alexa and a smart plug, you can set a routine in the Alexa app to turn off the smart plug when you phone arrives at your home and turn off when it leaves.

Not unless you have the ring alarm. I Can’t believe Ring even released an indoor camera without having a geofencing feature.

While I accept that works it’s pretty bloody ridiculous! I wonder if Ring ever read customer comments?

Not so. if I am away and need to reset the camera (as it does happen from time to time), I just remotely turn the smart plug off then on again for the reset.
