Question

Anyone see the second generation security system for pre order on the website ? What’s really different besides the motion detector ? Does anyone know if the motion detectors can be placed outside ? And if you can have them only send alerts to your phone and not activate your whole alarm system ?

I don’t think you can put the Curity system motion to tactor’s outside. But the smart lighting system has just the motion sensor and I know you can put that bad boy out side! It also alerts my phone.

Just curious what good an outdoor motion detection would be without a camera to actually see what is was or if it was a threat? What would you do when you received this notification and can't see what actually set it off?

@market406 I have outdoor cameras as well. Besides, even without them. Motion detection would be valuable outside as for home security having many layers of protection is great. As many early warning signs you can get the better. Even without a camera, motion detection is useful because it’s detecting motion. you just haven’t determined what it is yet

To answer you other question: The kepad is redesigned with buttons you can push to call police, fire, or medical assistance be sent with the touch of a button. This seems to be the biggest change. Contact sensors have been redesigned and made smaller. Motion detectors are redesigned and appear to cover a better area. Base station remains the same. All components from 1st and 2nd gen will work together.
