I work nights, so obviously sleep during the day. Before I go to sleep I turn my iPhone on Do Not Disturb so I don’t get any sort of notifications. However I would like to be notified if someone rings my doorbell, because Do Not Disturb is on I wouldn’t know. Any suggestions of how I can work around this? I’m considering purchasing a Chime, are they any good?

@dormeuse2 I have a chime, they will wake you up for sure. If that’s what you want. You can modify ringtone and how loud you want it to be too

It depends on your phone, you should be allowed certain notifications getting through while set on Do Not Disturb

I work night shift too and have a Chime in our bedroom and I can silence it when I sleep during the day and someone is home or leave it on and it wakes me up if motion is detected. I have the option to turn off motion alerts and only get them if the doorbell is rung in the app though so it would do that for you. At night when I am off neither one of us was waking up with nighttime alerts on our phone so that is why we got the Chime but I like it.

I have linked my Alexa devices to the Ring door bell. When someone approaches Alexa says there is someone at the door and, if the bell is pushed, Alexa will chime. It is very easy to setup in the Alexa app.

I would go with an Echo Flex or Echo Dot before a Chime. With the disclaimer that I’ve not used a Chime. But the Echo can chime and/or announce when the Ring is rung plus many other things like alert you to severe weather and quietly play lulling sleep sounds, etc.

I use the chime and it works fine. I use the dogs barking tone and now when the dogs barking tone goes off the dogs run to the front door. hahaha.

The are good for what they do; chime when the doorbell is pressed or, if you want, the doorbell senses motion. What otherwise is your idea of "good? "

I second the echo flex or dot. Incredibly adorable for notifications like that. If you get one with a screen, you can now set it to automatically display the video feed which is super helpful.

Chime pro 2 - has many more sounds than the old one! Easy to add to network!
