Does anyone use the new Netgear WiFi 6 AX4200 mesh network with their ring? Or any WiFi 6 mesh networks?

Orbi RBK50 set is fantastic. I have in my warehouse and cameras in front, back, and even a battery ring cam in my car rear window works when parked out front.

@commonweal125 how many satellites do you have?
by (1.4k points)
Richard: RBK50 is the model # for the set. One router and one satellite. You can always add another add-on satellite (RBS50) later if you have a really BIG house

@chesty do you notice any greater range for the signal? I want to do a solar stickup camera at my barn about 400’ away from the house.

@chesty do you have one satellite?
by (1.9k points)
@attrition I have 3, supposed to cover 7500 sqft. How much it actually covers I dunno, my house is 3900sqft and I’ve got good signal everywhere inside and out, front and back.

@chesty thank you for the info

@chesty Do you have any battery cameras? I’ve read that Live View doesn’t work with Orbi on the battery cameras like the Ring Doorbell 2.

@acuate Karmin my Ring Spotlight cam worked OK with my old Orbi (RBK50) no problem. My old first gen stickup cam also didn’t have issues with live view back when I was still on the Orbi
by (1.9k points)
@acuate Karmin no battery cams, my ring cams are all hardwired. No issues with either Orbi setup for me.

Orbi RBK33 not sure the WiFi 6 is worth the upcharge yet since I don’t have anything other than the new iPhones that read WiFi 6. To each their own tho.
by (1.9k points)
@lemur yeah no, the WiFi 6 Orbi’s are just expensive paper weights right now, powerful processors bogged down by buggy firmware. And lack of features too. Doesn’t have Netgear Armor and Disney Circle like the old Orbi RBK50 which Im subscribed to so it sucks that you cant even use something you are subscribing for in a supposedly newer device ‍♂️

RBK50 is horrible. Returned that crap within a week too

I use AmpliFi Alien (2 of them, as mesh) it is WiFi 6 (AX) and works really well, my ring devices has no issue. I bought an Orbi RBK852 (WiFi 6) prior to that and pretty much returned it within 2 days, it was buggy as hell, firmware felt like a beta release. My old Orbi RBK50 (WiFi 5) worked better when I initially bought it, but recent firmwares also are full of issues, thats why I moved to a different brand. The Alien feels solid, but a bit expensive. No special need to adjust anything default, just works with all of my devices, Ring, Nest, various smart plugs/lights. and so on.

Had tons of connection issues getting my Ring devices to work with my Netgear R7000. Switched to Ubiquiti Dream Machine and no longer have problems. Will not buy Netgear again due to too many firmware issues.
