Probably putting in a shed this year and want to take my Stick Up Cam plug in from inside and mount it on the shed via POE. The distance would need to run probably 150 feet from where the Ring POE Adaptor would be. Is there a max length POE can be before it cannot power the device? I know regular Ethernet can go about 200 feet before signal loss. just wondering if it is the same for POE? Thanks!

I believe it's 300'.

@kean4 I believe the differences are between the type of POE, but I still think 150' should fall within an acceptable range. If you have some data loss, you'd just need a POE extender somewhere in the loop and you should be set.

328ft is the theoretical limit iirc.

If you are running PoE outdoors I would definately insert an ethernet PoE surge protector / lightening arrester inline at the shed. They run about $25. It will also handle the ground potential differential issue between your shed and the house.

Yes, that will work. Keep in mind it is sacrificial, so you may want to keep a spare around too.
