I just hooked up my RING Smoke/CO listener. I have 24/7 Professional Monitoring but I’d like to exclude the listener or turn it off if I can. I would only like to utilize it while I’m away for extended periods of time such as vacation. Is there an option to disable the listener? I assume even when my system is in Disarm Mode the Fire or CO listener will still contact RING Monitoring and dispatch emergency services if needed correct? I was hoping for an option to disable the listener while in Disarmed Mode and enable it while in Away Mode. My wife and I have a habit of setting off the smoke alarm while cooking.

Darn good question! the listener sets off the alarm even in disarm mode. this is actually delaying me from turning on pro-monitoring even though I have the subscription. the near-kitchen alarms go off unintentionally all the time. if anyone has a good plan as how to manage please do tell ‍

They call you to verify you're safe, and if you tell them you're fine they don't send anyone. I set mine off the other day when I hit it with canned air. The protocol might be different for a carbon monoxide alert though, because CO tends to impair your ability to think clearly, so they might not take your word for it that you're okay.

If CO goes off they are required to respond even if you call. So of you burn something in the kitchen they are coming. Would be helpful to have when away only.

CO is very deadly so error on the side of safety. Accept a false alarm occasionally. Small price for saving a life.

I’m not concerned about CO side of it because if that goes off they dispatch services without a phone call which they should. I can’t unintentionally set that off anyway so if it does go off it’s for good reason. My concern is the Smoke Alarm side of it because even though they do call before dispatching services I could see that getting annoying.

If you have Alexa, use Alexa Guard on away mode and it listens for the smoke alarm and glass breakage. Only operates when you set it in Alexa or if you link it to the alarm, in away mode only. No ring listener needed. It uses the echo devices you assign to it.

I came to post this same idea!

You might need a different smoke alarm for the kitchen then? I can't remember which kind, but ionization or photoelectric. One is better for Kitchen.
