I'm a current Ring user (have a Ring Doorbell Pro and Floodlight Camera) and am thinking of replacing my current monitored home security system (its back end is powered by Alarm. com) as the monitoring service will be up for renewal in a month. The system currently has two GE LCD keypads, cellular/3G backup, motion sensor, wired door sensors and monitored smoke/CO detectors. I also have Samsung SmartThings (v2 hub) deployed at my home with Schlage Z-Wave door locks, multiple Z-Wave and Zigbee contact sensors (for doors), First Alert Z-Wave Combo Smoke/CO (ZCOMBO) detectors. From what I've read, I understand that Ring's security system is based on Z-Wave. Having said that: If I were to install Ring's security system, can I utilize and integrate with all my existing Z-Wave devices? Will they work in conjunction with my SmartThings hub or it's one or the other only? I see Ring Security has two versions (1st gen and 2nd gen). For my particular situation, should I go with the 1st gen (which will go on sale at Costco starting on 5/1 for $40 off for the 10-piece kit) or wait for the 2nd gen to become available? Since I have existing wired sensors (doors primarily), do I go with the "retrofit kit" or just not worry about it and disconnect my existing alarm system and remove the wall mounted LCD keypads and replace with Ring's own keypads? In other words, treat it as a brand new install/system. My system currently has two keypads. For Ring's service, I assume I would need the Plus Protection plan? Thanks in advance, for your help!

I'd leave all of your current sensors on Smartthings except for the door lock. As for gen 1 or 2, I'd honestly just go with the most affordable option. From what I understand, the sensors and keypad are just a newer design that look nicer to some people. I plan to get the retrofit addon sometime this year to bring over some of my sensors into Ring from my Konnected setup through Smartthings.
