What do y’all think of the Ring - Spotlight Cam Wire free camera?

So the battery ones. bought 3 a month ago. I’m not sure what exactly is setting them off, but I’ve set them to “People Only Mode”, but still get notified and when I check, nothing is there. The motion zone is adjusted like the doorbell, so you can’t modify it to certain areas. Overall, I wish I just spent a bit more for the floodlights.

@kurt43666 I have all of mines angled weird and not centered, so I can’t be for sure (partial view is of my cement wall), but coverage is decent. You don’t get motion zones with the spotlight unfortunately, but centering it will make the most use out of the limited flexibility of the motion zone. I’ll show you images I found on google.

This is the spotlight’s motion zone setting. That’s why I mentioned centering it will give you the most coverage compared to me angling mines and not getting full coverage of my backyard if we’re talking about motion trigger zone.

This is the floodlight and what I really wanted the spotlight to provide me. Being able to set multiple zones anywhere in view.

@kurt43666 personally, I would get more than one. Front and back. Maybe you need 2 for the front. Another pro I would think besides no wires is once you sync it to your phone and battery is charged, it works right out the box. So you can view it and adjust before you actually drill it to the wall/driveway.

@erminois I have a spotlight mount and it does this. Just got a new wired stick up and it doesn’t.

I have one and love it but the wired of definitely better, obviously you don’t have to keep recharging the batteries and the wired has better motion zone settings

Buy 4 extra batteries, 6 if you can afford it. Each cam comes with one battery, but can hold two. Keep extras charged at all times to swap out when one is depleted.

@vigor67968 I have one with a solar panel attached and never need to add another battery, or swap out for a fully charged one.

I have it. You will need two batteries. Works well. You might want to add solar panel to it. But works very well

Matias, with these is the motion best side to side or head on? Thinking of putting two up on either side of the garage

@kurt43666 I put one up on one side of my back porch and it covers the entire thing very well. Using two would be nice. Definitely get two batteries. I’m adding a solar panel next week.

I like mine but that price is not great. They have gone on sale for $250 the last two Black Friday’s. I have both battery and wired - the wired performs better but the battery provides for a cord free and much easier install. Definitely get an extra battery if you go that route.

That's a lot of money for a wire free. You could almost buy two solar panels and wired for that price. I have a single battery that has been up for about 4 months without a charge.

Yeah I saw that. But then as someone else mentioned, you also have to buy additional batteries. So. add another $60 if you buy the minimum number of extra batteries. That shoots the cost to $400. Buy one spare for each camera, now $460. So, almost as expensive as what I mentioned above.

I have 4. Surrounding my house since november. Love em. App sometimes stinks. Like it will take forever to load my timeline to look at stuff sometimes but overall good. Get solar panels. I had to charge mine 2 times a month. Yes it was cold winter but i got a panel for each one and havnt charged them since. They maintain 100% and on occasion make it down to 95% but within the next day bacl to 100

I bought the spotlight cams with battery then bought the power cords on amazon - that way i have power and back up battery. i like my cameras

I bought 3 of them, they all works like a charm. The setup and installation was a breeze to set up as well.

So at $170 each, not bad. However you will need either a second battery or Solar Panel. We went with the solar panel because it's a hassle to keep changing the battery (especially if it's cold). With the Solar Panels, they recharge the battery so they are always at 100%. They have limitations. They don't to come on as fast as floodlight cams or wired but that's because of battery issues. The image is also not as clear in the night - but that's cause of the lights. So if you accept them, then they work.

I have 3 around outside of my house. It's fine. I'd suggest getting solar panel, keeps battery fully charged. Only need one battery

Run a solar panel. I actually run 2 batteries and a panel, I don’t NEED a second battery but I already had it so they’re both always topped off.

I have 7 of them w/ 2 batteries and a solar panel. They work great and haven't touched them in 2 years after installation.

The ceiling works better upstairs because there is only 1 point. I do have a point on the table in the dining room and it does just as well for the backyard.
