I have a bunch of domain names. What's the best way to see if they are powerful domain names and would work good as far as being in the Google searches?

Make a post on each of them and check how they rank for that keywords inside the post.

Check their history.

@seeress337 how do I do that? I bought the domain names from godaddy about a year ago. They have been parked all that time. No website built on any of them.

You can just go to  See when was the last screen shot taken from your domain. Although as you said nothing was build on those domain earlier then there is little or no chances they have any history. In that Case there is only one factor that will help you in ranking which is "exact match domain" where your keywords are mentioned in the domain. Apart from this, there is no extra power to your domain name. You will have to work just like rest of us for your content to rank. Hope i made sense

You made sense. What's the best tool to figure out if people are searching for certain keywords the domain contains or not? Like for example one I have is whirlpoolwasherrepair. Com

@congeries4 most of the good tools are paid in nature like Ahrefs. But there are some free plugins too which you can install in Google Chrome. If money is not the problem then go for Ahrefs, it will be useful in long term too otherwise I will send some good free plugins for chrome for the same purpose.

"WMS Everywhere" is one such Google Chrome Add-on which helps in finding the volume and difficulty for keywords for free

Check the archive (like @seeress337 said) and other metrics (links, DA, PA, et al). See if the sites still show indexed in Google. I'm not saying finding out these things will give you a for sure 100% they'll be great domains; but, it will help you identify ones that will have a little bit of a push or running start to take off. It'll still rely mostly on what you put up on the domain; how you optimize the site; et al factors. Think about Target (or any brand), as an example. They used that name to create a brand and a then a website for a large multipurpose shopping company; but, it isn't a site about targets. With the write on and off page optimization, any domain will be powerful!

Give them away, for free. Those nobody wants are the less powerful ones. From here on, is easy to get the right answer for yor question

Run them through Ahrefs and check their stats.
