Have a couple of fluorescent tube lights in my bathroom that I was hoping to use a smart switch to automate, but I got a tip that they don’t work well together and have even caused them to burnout quickly. Anybody know anything about this? Those bulbs aren’t cheap.

I've been running 3 x 35W T8 tubes on a Fibaro FGS221 relay module for 3-4 years now with no issues. The problem with some fittings could be the in-rush current when they're switched on (as it is with some cheap LEDs too); that can weld the smart switch/relay contacts. Light fitting specs may quote a peak short-term current draw - if that's below the rating of the switch, it ought to be ok.

Switch to LED bulbs. ~$15 for a 2-pack

Set delay to 15+ minutes and they’ll be fine. Might even last longer? I prefer dumb occupancy sensors in bathrooms, closets, and garages.
