Programmers will know what I'm talking about. IFTTT should have: IF this AND this THEN that (or even! ) IF this AND this AND this THEN that. EDIT: What would I use it for? If motion is sensed in my bathroom after 6am but before 9pm, the lights turn on as normal. If motion is sensed in my bathroom and it is later than 9pm but before 6am, only 1 of those 4 lights turns on, at soft light, at 30% brightness.
Programmers will know what I'm talking about.

Ifttt is a last option for me. Limited options and not reliable.

I have read that it is possible to have multiple conditions. I haven't had time to really dig into it though.

@axel52 I just did a Google search to find the info. I think I was trying to figure out how to add after sunsets if someone rings the doorbell turn on the light. But it was not involved then I had time to deal with.

This is what I found. I didn't go past this post though.

@axel52 let me know how it works out

Not having multiple triggers or multiple actions is why most people move on from IFTTT.

Hubatit smart hub, or home assistant on a raspberry pi. sometimes both, I’m not 100% sure how they work together.

@axel52 Yes physical hubs like SmartThings, Home Assistant, Hass. io, Hubitat etc.

Start the applet with date and time. Then the action. If it's between (whatever time) then do this.

Once you get your smartthings hub check out webcore. Puts IFTTT to shame.

Yeah just get a hub. With webcore you can do Only when If this And this And this And this And this Do that
by (6.6k points)
Webcore with smartthings, yeah. You can add tons of restrictions and conditions to automations.

As everyone has said, get a hub. Also, stay away from Wifi devices as much as possible. Look for Z-Wave+ and Zigbee devices that are compatible with most hubs. Hue and Lutron are definitely good choices for lights depending on your situation and taste.

Do you have a generator to power said lights when your wifi goes out? Otherwise that's not your worry. Wifi devices don't play as well. Kasa isn't too bad. I don't know etekcity. But with all local devices if you lose internet you still have full control.

Yeah. I have a bit of experience with UPS devices. I have commercial grade equipment to support my home lab with 5, soon to be 8 servers. I've also worked in places with batteries that would power your entire house.

Both logical and, and bitwise and, as well as logical or and bitwise or.

@axel52 I'm imagining having a level of control that's just impractical for useful user interfaces (ex-embedded software engineer) for normal people. But every time I dig into Hubitat I just wish I could write everything in C, or C++ (which would require bitwise operations to pick apart certain variables).

When I built my own smart home controller one of the first things I did was make it really easy to do stuff like this, so that anyone could do these kinds of things without programming knowledge. The current smart home market is so far behind in this respect. My target market was my wife, who has very little technical knowledge. The basic premise was that if you can say it, then you can configure it. So my smart home supports what I call “controllers”

You can use Apilio for using multiple conditions. I have it set up so my lights come on if I arrive home and its after sunset

Vera's Reactor Plugin does this and more without phoning the cloud.

You need to look at  assuming you do not care about reliability of course.

We had it, it was called stringify, they shut it down.

This community had a great app called stringify, it allowed you to add way more than 2 inputs to get a certain output, it was fantastic.
The Smart Home Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about smart home automation with zwave, bluetooth, and zigbee IOT devices.
