I don't know Hive, but with Tado you can set a temperature offset so that the TRV reports the real room temperature

Doesn’t negate the fact that they are hopelessly located for room temperature monitoring.

Wouldn’t you have to change the offset based on whether the radiator is on or not, and then in the summer if there’s a cooler nearby?

For my home I use the sensors below with analog output 0. 5V: Then the signals can be read with Numato GPIO devices, there are USB GPIO, Ethernet GPIO, WiFi GPIO: Numato. com Or some cheap SNMP controllers: https://altonalab. com/product-category/smnp_controllers/ All the boards can be controlled with the IoT software: https://iot. altonalab. com/

If you really must use Wi-Fi, go ESP8266 with DS1820

These are the types of things that seem to be much more well done in ZigBee or ZWave than Bluetooth or WiFi. Cheaper, more options, longer battery life, and easy to get into a home automation system. Hubitat* is a good hub to consider.
