My dad just told me he wants a camera that's motion activated, has night vision and that he can watch on the TV, any recommendations?

Location for camera? Guessing outside? Backyard, driveway? I would personally go with a ring floodlight cam, the lights help significantly at night. Or cheapest would be a wyze with an ir illuminator. There's a lot more that goes into cameras then most people think. Ring floodlight would be easiest if you have an existing floodlight you can replace with it. You also need good wifi for both options.

Well unless you get into more professional grade, you won't be happy with any night time picture quality. Look into Speco Ultra Intensifier cameras. Won best award last year at CES out of 30, 000 cameras.

Agree, Ring floodlight are excellent if you want to see things at night.

Tiny cam pro app works. But dont expect good night time picture with these cams. Unless you add a IR illuminator.

Anything that offers a RTSP FEED WILL WORK. I like Amcrest IP CAMERAS. For the specs you get vs price, you can’t go wrong.

Does he understand most nightvision will only give you positive ID of a person less than 20 feet from the camera?

I have 6 reolink c1 IP cameras, can be Ethernet or WiFi, I chose Ethernet. You can use a android TV box, and an app from google play, to any HDMI TV or monitor

I have 3 Netvue wifi cams and they work great. If you have firestick you can tell Alexa to show the cam and it will pull right up on the tv. I have wyze cams they can do the same but i think they have short view time when called up by Alexa times out at 10 mins or so.

Every ip camera can be watched on tv with chromecast or smart tv. Just use the right applications.
