Trying to think of a way I can hide the actual tape light but have the same glow around the tv. Any ideas?

Why not just put the lights behind the TV. It would be much more attractive and less distracting.

1x2 screwed flat and tape the lights to it. then a 1x4 covering it.

Clear tubing lined with parchment paper. Thats what they use for lightsabers. Cut the tubing into 4 so you are left with just corners.

Aluminum LED extrusion with a frosted cover will help spread the light and it also helps spread the heat. I bought mine from aliexpress but I needed 200 meters. You can find it on Amazon. com too just search for aluminum extrusion led strip.

Paint wood molding the width of the strips, flat black. Tape the lights to the molding and glue the molding where the lights are now facing the back wall. You would not see the lights directly, but would still get the same effect.
