Hi, newbie here, my brother and I have been discussing smart wifi switches, and we live in the Philippines where neutral wires are not common in switch boxes. So, what I would like to clarify is if we have a three way wire, let's say 1 wire is coming from the breaker connecting to the switch, 1 wire coming from the breaker goes straight to the lighting (which is 110 as he explained), and the other wire is from the switch to the lighting which acts as a gateway for the electricity to flow (which makes it 220 for the light to turn on). Does this make sense? Sorry, not really knowledgeable about wiring, but that's what my brother says, so if the switch is turned off does that mean it doesn't supply power to the switch? So, meaning it's useless to install a smart wifi switch there, right?

I'm stuck on the whole 110 to 220 hop happening at a switch when it's 110 from the breaker. That's some voodoo that's out of my skill set right there

@kym I'm guessing all wires provide 110 then meets at the lighting which sparks 220 when switch is turned on

Should find some wiring diagrams from the Philippines for the most up today electrical code. That’ll help out a lot.
