Is there any turnkey alternative to IFTTT that will allow me to utilize Wyze Sense sensors with MsartThings? I know HA and Hubitat and all the other popular power user choices can do this blindfolded but I’m not to that level yet. Essentially Wyze has given me sensors to work with but my overall architecture can’t see it. IFTTT (sort of) bridges that gap but it’s absolutely terrible unless you only want the most basic of rules. I’m trying to use a sensor to trigger an event but I don’t want it to trigger over and over and over 24 hours a day when the only time it’s actually needed is during a specific time period. Little help?

Wyze doesn't play well with others. Like you said, you can MAKE them interact with other devices but you need to create virtual devices on your hub, then link the virtual device to the wyse service (most commonly through (IFTTT). I'm not a fan of this solution either. Alexa has some functionality for this, but might not get as granular as you want. Google Home can't begin to do this. The Wyse app has a decent rule engine in it that allows for some stuff. But really, if you want Wyze to interact with non Wyze devices, you're going to end up needing virtual devices. For real granular rules on SmartThings or Hubitat, the most powerful tool is WebCore. There is a bit of a learning curve to it as well, but it's not too complicated. There is a robust support community for WebCore out there as well. There is a very good chance that somebody has already done something similar to what you want to do, and created a piston that you can import and tweak. I love Wyze. I really do. I just wish they played well with others.

@kym I want to love Wyze. the sensors are so small and inconspicuous; but right now I’m struggling to even find a reason to keep any of it hooked up. The only useful thing I have is the camera in my garage that I had to have in order to use the sensors and all that’s for is visual verification of garage door status  I had a feeling this was going to be my answer but I was hoping.

I like the size of their sensors too. But I can't seem to find a case use for them, that I wouldn't prefer another sensor for. They basically only tell you open or close, and I typically want more triggers than that. What I really love Wyze for are for indoor cameras. SmartThings can turn them on or off based on your family presence in the home or based on motion detection. They're great indoor cameras. If you don't need that, then it's really hard to justify their ecosystem. It's a real pity too because the character of the company is second to none. They are GREAT people and a GREAT company. Unfortunately, that's not always enough.

You've received some good advice above. To add to that, unless you're set on using the sensors in the Wyze system or otherwise love something about them (maybe the price? it comes with a cost :) ), your best bet on SmartThings, Hubitat, or HASS would be a natively supported Zigbee (a little iffy on HASS last time I used it) or Z-Wave contact sensor. SmartApps, including webCoRE, won't add much if ST (or similar automations/apps on similar hubs) can't "see" your sensor, and as you'be discovered, Wyze is pretty limiting here, with cloud options like IFTTT or Alexa (and a virtual device acting as a proxy) being one of limited ways to squeeze more full-featured automations (à la ST) out of them.

@pelpel honestly I was just hoping to be able to find a way to make the sensors I have useful. Looks like the only real use I might have for them would be to put the contact sensor on the deep freezer in my garage to notify me if it’s accidentally left open. Beyond that. the camera isn’t bad

Yeah, I can't say I didn't wish the camera have more features (or just integration possibilities, really), but for the price I'm not complaining. :) Mostly stayed away from the rest of their smart-home products, though, for reasons that may be apparent now. Not saying anything bad about them--they're fine if you only want what the system provides, and they're definitely priced better than most--but when you start wanting more, you reach the limitations such "walled garden" systems bring about.

@pelpel eh learning curve I guess and for the price the camera is great. I had a similar experience with IFTTT insofar as I outgrew it almost immediately. By the time I figured out how to use it I also knew enough to know it’s pretty much useless except for netizens using script to tag things to Pinterest while they sleep.

Yes you can do thus with SmartThings using virtual switches and IFTTT with WebCoRE piston(s).
