Problem, anyone else?  I have a Ring doorbell that runs off power from the doorbell.Problem, anyone else? I have a Ring doorbell that runs off power from the doorbell. It is several years old and sits directly in the sun and cooks. Every so often, it would go offline. I would end up pulling it down, keep it disconnected for a week or so, and put it back, it will work. I just took down again after being offline for weeks. will see if it comes back. Anyone else seen this ?

Mine was constantly losing power. I read the battery in them goes bad. I switched to Nest Hello and it hasn't lost power in the year its been hooked up.

Mine is over 2 years old. I am wondering if the direct sun, or wet weather plays a toll on these guys. Nest will be my next, to work with my Google Home system.

Direct sunlight is probably the problem, but have you checked to make sure the transformer on your doorbell is compatible? I remember we reading there were certain transformers that you shouldn’t use with them. But I don’t remember the specifics.

Did not check that ( transformer). It would work fine for 8-10 months, usually happens once a year.

This is exactly how mine was. I never was able to find the doorbell transformer in my house. I ended up running power from a plug next to the door through the hole into the Ring. No problems since then.

Mines hardwired in the shade. Been that way for a year and it's never skipped a beat

Dropping offline could also be the router doing that. The router may be old or unable to keep constant connection due to amount of devices. Most routers have device limits

We put a ring in at my mother in laws house. Had real problems. First it was the transformer. 80s house and less than 16 volts. Replaced that then it worked a week or so and lost connection again. After a few trips we realized the wiring was old and brittle. So we cut the ends off the wire (just the exposed wire) and stripped a half inch of insulation and reconnected. Been working solid now for a few years. Basically the cracked ends could drive the amps needed by the ring to charge.

Hmmmmm. sound interesting. may do this.

Just cut the wires back and stripped clean ends. Connected it up and the doorbell rang and scared the hell out of me, lol. It appears to be doing some kind of process, will wait and see if this does the trick :)

Update. Its working, but. it appears to have an issue. Video works, and I can hear from the device, but if I trigger the mic to talk it hiccups, locks up, and resets . so no mic apparently now.

@wabash88690 let it charge up for a while like a day. That little battery doesn’t last long and if it hasn’t charged up fully that might cause the behavior.
