I did this one, my lights are near the pool and this is specifically rated for that. I used lights connected to my pool automation so depending how you how them set up it may not be the right option

@verdie I’d be a little spooked about this transformer as by looking at the spec page, I didn’t see any information on this product having an internal breaker. In the event of a short, zero protection of

@kuhn59625 it should be plugged into a GFCI, its not hardwired

@trimester indeed. However, GFCI won’t stop a short on the low voltage side brother.

Are the bulbs led? If so look for an “Led Driver” on Amazon. Need to determine the how strong it needs to be by length/ gauge of wire and number of led fixtures.

@steward990 if the system is installed with crossed polarity, which is acceptable with AC, A DC driver won’t work. Normal transformers work perfectly fine with LEDs. You’ll also get a lot less voltage drop with AC than DC giving you longer runs on smaller cable.

@kuhn59625 interesting. Can’t wait to call and educate my electrician

@steward990 electricians and low voltage lighting. he won’t want an education.

@steward990 not all LEDs are the same, especially low voltage outdoor products. There are tons of cheap products out there that aren’t DC compatible. A lot of the name brand products are both DC & AC. Most don’t say it on the lamp themselves, you’ll have to refer to the spec page on the manufacturers website.
