Ok here I am with another question lol I'm trying to add speakers to my garage. I have an old reciever and some outdoor rated speakers but what is the easiest way to make it smart? I have a smart speaker out there already for the basics but I now want good sound for loud music on the cheap. How do I get a old dumb reciever to be able to talk with my smart speaker so I can say google play my Jinjer playlist and it will automatically start playing on my old receiver? When it doesnt involve music I dont want google responding threw my garage speakers. I hope this makes sence. Please help

If you can find a chromecast audio, that will do what you want. I have a old computer monitor, and a regular chromecast in my garage hooked up with a hdmi to 3. 5mm, works great!

If the Jinjer play list is able to run off amazon on a skill you can use a dot and get a 3. 5mm to RCA cable

Connect the echo to the 3. 5mm aux port

@stultz not sure, google never came out with an aux out solution. One of the reasons I went echo, also can change the wake word. But when I watch star trek, it sometimes responds

@tulley adding the headphone jack will still make google respond threw the garage speakers no?

@tulley google did come out with an aux out solution which has now been discontinued. It’s the Chromecast Audio

@stultz if you get a Chromecast audio on eBay, connect it to the amp. Then you can talk to your smart speaker and tell it to play ‘X’ on Garage speakers.

@dagmar and that will make it where google will not respond on thoes speakers?

I just dont want to be blaring music and have google screaming responses. I only want the google speaker to respond.

@stultz correct. The Chromecast works as a broadcast device for content. The speaker will respond to you from it’s built in speaker.

@stultz you could even pair this with a smart power outlet to power on and off the amp

Depends how much you want to spend and what functionality you're looking for. You could do sonos, echo, Google, etc.

I will go with an Echo using the 3. 5mm jack to RCA.

I only work with Alexa but can get her to play any music 'Video' or audio track through any TV. Checkout the videos on the 'Workshop' page of my site www. youaskai. com You don't have to use a PC you can use anything that has a browser. 'Alexa uploads video'

Luckily, I bought Chromecast audio just before Google announced that they would not make them anymore. Not fond of Alexa. I will be interested to see the replies
