What am I missing?  New SmartThings user here, convert from wink. What am I missing? New SmartThings user here, convert from wink. I have always heard that SmartThings was more robust, offered more options and programmability. I am struggling to recreate even the most basic levels of control I had with Wink. For example: I have a pantry light switch. The goal is that when the switch is turned, it will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. The device level timer has failed every single time. Separate automations do not have a delay function. I shouldn’t need to write code for the most basic of functions. I am trying to embrace ST, but device adding is proving to be sketchy, and the interface is incredibly slow and unresponsive. I have tried both apps. Everyone speaks highly of ST. What am I missing?

Here’s your automation. Do it in smart lighting.

@subtreasury70 it’s really hidden under “power allowance”?
by (6.4k points)
@tuddor2050 yes for this one. Make sure you select turn off first otherwise you won’t see that option available.

@tuddor2050 as others pointed out though for more complex automations I highly recommend checking into webCoRE.

WebCoRE is probably what you're missing. It's another learning curve to go through but well worth it once the penny drops.

For me it's been so much better.

What if you make a separate automation that’s says if it’s on turn it off with a 10 minute delay?
by (360 points)
@pecos7540 there isn’t a delay option in the separate automations

@pecos7540 I feel like I’m having app glitches. I closed and opened the app and now delay options are available. I’ve spent 30 min working on it and there was nothing available. It is so weird.

@tuddor2050 There is a time delay in the automations.

Most anything can be done via Smart Lighting.

Ok, so new question: I have a light that says it is offline. In wink the reconnect procedure was pretty straight forward. Is there an easy way to reconnect a device in ST?
by (2.9k points)
@tuddor2050 First make sure it actually offline. Does it not work. If it still works and show history, it’s just the Device Health option causes false readings. You can turn that off if you want. But if you do and something is actually offline, it won’t tell you. False readings usually go away after a bit. If it actually is offline. Just remove it and readd it.

@stout1 I’ve had problems removing Items. They say they are removing, but the never disappear.

@tuddor2050 You have to make sure no rules are using that device. After that, they should disappear.
