Hello members, 1) Which alarm system works best with ST? (Without monthly fee) 2) Any recommendations on home monitoring add-on for ST? What's your opinion on IKEA's and Aqara's PIR? Thanks

When you call something an alarm system, there are industry standards that just be met. Thankspically they have professional monitoring. That is never going to be free.

It’s easy to “make your own” with multisensors, zwave siren, etc. Aqara sensors are a pain to pair and don’t mesh well. I don’t have experience with ikea

I have a couple aqara sensors and a handful of ikea light bulbs and plugs (mostly because the plugs are supposedly good repeaters for aqara). Aqara is by far the least reliable thing in my smarthome setup. My aqara multisensor goes offline constantly, and there's no good way to force it to route through Ikea devices. Ikea is probably my next least reliable brand, but it's worlds better than Aqara. I've had to reset and repair most of my ikea bulbs a few times, but they're generally okay. I doubt I'd buy any more though.

in the SmartThings app, I’d you go to the + menu in the upper right and choose SmartApps, is SmartThings Home Monitor an option?

Search Konnected. Haven't tried it myself as yet but looks a great option if you already have a standard system in place?

as far as I understand it basically replaced the main controller board of your existing standard alarm sensors, enabling them then to be used directly in ST. As I said, haven't tried it yet myself but looks to have good support.
