Ethernet is orders of magnitude better than wifi. Use ethernet if you can, and if you can't, make all changes necessary so you can.

WiFi and Zigbee use the same Rf Frequency range so I always try to keep my ST hub as far away from my WiFi access points as possible. That said I also try to use wired connections when they're available for stability reasons. For mine my ST hub is using a wired ethernet port in the center of my home. Away from both of my mesh WiFi APs. Other than that - not really.

Zigbee will only crossover with your 2. 4GHz Wifi band. No impact if you're on 5GHz. My ST hub has been far more responsive than Wink in central location in 2 story house. I've not had to move it for any pairing or communication needs. It's amazing how more reliability I've seen from Zwave and Zigbee devices. I guess all that blaming of users and 3rd party devices by Wink was bogus and it was the Wink hub all along after all.
