So I have the Sylvania/osram/lightify led strips and had the osram rgbw device handler installed and things were great until Smartthings forced me to migrate over to the new app. The custom settings in the device handler like automatic color loop, pulsing and strobe/blink no longer show up in the new app. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use for the new app? Ie updated device handlers or smart apps for color changing strips? As a side note anyone know how to get a nice sunrise effect for waking up using rgbw strips? Ideally starting red/orange and slowly transitioning to daylight?

No-one has been forced to the new app. Just go back to Classic

Have you used classic recently? It tells you to migrate every single time you open it saying support is ending for classic and walks you through a process to migrate all your devices over.

@kilroy use it every day

This is what I was seeing in mine every time I tied to use it. It may be a phased rollout, you will probably get it soon. Note it did allow me to do it later but it's super annoying so I migrated

@kilroy go back to Classic and see if you still get the message. I have both, maybe it doesn’t nag me because I have the new app installed also. Although others suggested only those will simple setups/few DTH or whatever were targeted. Regardless the new app is far from ready.

I've had both from the beginning. I can still use classic after the migration but it's now limited to only certain things and I get a banner saying to use the new app instead

Not sure if mine is considered a simple setup but I have about 50 zwave devices with wall switches, dimmers, bulbs, three schlage locks, motion sensors, door sensors, mouse traps, alarm, water shut off valve, water leak detectors and sockets with custom apps and handlers.

@kilroy I’m not aware of any functionality I’ve lost in the Classic app, just that new users don’t get SHM and possibly routines. All my smart apps are still working and also accessible in the new app.

@kilroy sounds like you should certainly stay with Classic!

Back to my original post, I would have except for them making me move, you can see my screenshot above saying they're no longer making any updates to the classic app so it's essentially end of lifed and no longer supported by them. When you finish migration it says you can still use classic for certain things for now but that it will be removed from the play store and removed so not like we have a choice.

@kilroy well in Classic do you still have your original options?
by (230 points)
I do for this device handler so I'm ok for now but looking for alternatives with the new app given classic is no longer supported.

@kilroy I think you’re too hung up on the app, if it works use it. Neither app is any more than a way of programming the IDE. There’s no way ST will totally do away with DTH.

@kilroy don’t equate the DTH with the app! There are many DTH (SmartWX time and Zooz switches come to mind) that offer reduced functionality in the new app. If Classic goes away tomorrow the DTH are still there in the IDE. Things are still evolving I think it’s a waste of time to chase a moving target.

I use the Zigbee RGBW bulb handler because it executes locally. The OSRAM handler is cloud execution.

@lixivium3 but the zigbee rgbw handler doesn't have color loop, pulsing or blink/strobe, only basic actions like choosing color and dim level right?

@kilroy Correct.

Yeah that's unfortunate, I really want automatic color loop

Saw this in the new app.

So the Classic app is only being retired for iOS 10 and older? Nothing to see here folks, it’s business as usual. iOS 11 is supported on iPhone 5S and later, so unless you have an iPhone more than 8 years old, nothing is changing.

@willie this is for the new app. Classic works on iOS 9+.

D’oh! Thanks for pointing that out, Jimmy.
