Well, kinda. A battery powered Zigbee sensor will repeat thru the closest wired Zigbee device (light bulb or the like). So, that said, whatever is powered up at the time you set up the battery powered sensor is what it will latch too. This doesn't guarantee it will stay there after say a power outage though. I have battery backups on several of my smart bulbs, and the battery sensors attached to those stay steady.
