Depends on the device. Hue, for example, uses the zigbee protocol on the same 2. 4GHz frequency as WiFi, but the zigbee devices create their own network back to the Hue hub. The Hue hub then talks to the Internet via your broadband router.

I wonder if years from now people will look back and laugh at how we voluntarily immersed ourselves in frequency waves that are slowly giving us cancer?

I moved my Schlage locks over to SmartThings and everything is great so far but the only thing I can’t seem to figure out (may not even be possible) is to create scheduled codes.

So if my SmartThings buttons are local and the controlled devices are local and the SmartThings hub is set to allow local control, why don't the buttons work when the Samsung servers are down?

So I just got my annual escrow review for 2020 and it says I’m getting a check back of about $1300 Now I know why that is, as I switched my house insurance midway through the yr and saved about that much.
