Forgive me I know I've asked about this before but am at a lose so I am asking for guidance again. I haven't been able to figure out what I am doing wrong with my automation. To restate my project, I want my under “Cabinet lights” to turn on and turn red when the alarm is set to Armed (away) or Armed (stay). The LED under cabinet lights are controlled by the Magic Home app. Under normal circumstances, the cabinet lights turn on (white) first thing in the morning and shut off mid-morning then again in the late afternoon and shut off around 10:pm. Currently, I have; In Smartthings - Created a virtual switch called (Alarm on light) In IFTTT – Created an Applet saying that (Turning on Magic Home device with a Smartthings switch). This trigger fires every time your Smartthings device is switched on (the device is “Alarm On Light”. Then Magic Home to turn lights on (which lights “Cabinet lights”) In Magic Home - My device is called “Cabinet Lights” and I currently have 2 scenes, 1 called “Alarm on light” and the second called “Alarm off light”. At the Graph. api site I have authorized IFTTT to access my works with Smartthings devices from my location and allowed IFTTT to control these things (Alarm on light). Is there anything obviously wrong? I appreciate any thoughts.

1. Check to ensure that the "automation" or ST scene turns on the Virtual Switch "alarm on light" when the alarm is set to Armed. Verify that the virtual switch turns off when the alarm is dis-armed. 2. Check the IFTTT (Smartthings/Magic Light) applet has the "alarm on light" ST device turning on a Magic Light device "cabinet lights", set the color to "red", set the level to "100". Test this, then create another IFTTT applet which turns off the light when the Virtual Switch "alarm on light" turns off when the alarm is set to Dis-Armed. 3. The IFTTT will not interact or recognize a Magic Light "scene" or "light group". So if you have two light strips, you will need to create an IFTTT applet for each light strip. Good luck.

P. S. in IFTTT, you have a choice of using Magic Home or Magic Light WF to control your lights. Either can be installed on a mobile device and utilized to do this. Both use the same account and password. I switched to Magic Light WF and have gotten slightly better reliability. Try using Magic Home first since you have configured your lights on that for now.

I've deleted the virtual switch and re-created it. I've checked the "Lighting Automation" settings and all seems fine, I have 2 automation, turn on ALARM ON LIGHT when mode changes to away and the second turn on ALARM ON LIGHT when mode changes to night. I created a virtual switch named CABINET LIGHTS. "Smart lighting" shows both automation, the virtual device center shows the CABINET IGHTS device name twice ( I assume each is for the two automatons. What I don't understand or see is I don't see any place where I select "Magic LIght - cabinet lights - alarm on". How does that happen? Am I missing something here? Shouldn't there be something that connects the virtual switch with the actual lighting app? Is the connection created in the "Device" list? As I look at the device list now I see 4 virtual switches and only 1 has zigbee id filled in. Your thoughts?

Still no luck, here is some information I have gathered. CABINET LIGHTS Device ALARM ON LIGHT Name CABINET LIGHTS Label ALARM ON LIGHT Thankspe Virtual Switch Version Published Zigbee Id CONTROLLER DDF865 Device Network Id CABINET LIGHTS Status ACTIVE Hub SmartThings Hub Group Kitchen Last Activity At 2020-02-14 1:57 PM EST Date Created 2020-02-13 7:24 AM EST Last Updated 2020-02-14 6:40 AM EST Data No data found for device Firmware Check Now Current States • switch: on Execution Location Local Events List Events In Use By • Smart Lighting / Turn on ALARM ON LIGHT when mode changes to Away (Lighting Automation) • Smart Lighting / Turn on ALARM ON LIGHT when mode changes to Night (Lighting Automation) At Smartthings - In devices I see “activity” each time I try to turn it on or off from my Smartthings Classic app. At Smartthings - In devices I see “activity” each time I try to turn it on or off from my Smartthings New app. At Smartthings - I don’t see any reference to the “Alarm On Light” or the app, Magic Home in Device Handlers or Smart Apps. In Smartthings New App - I’ve created a virtual switch called (Alarm on light) At the Magic Home app I can turn the “Cabinet Light” light on and off and turn the Alarm On Light on and off but the device handler does not reflect any activity. In IFTTT – I’ve created an Applet saying that (Turning on Magic Home device with a Smartthings switch). The box where I select the device is empty. This trigger fires every time your Smartthings device is switched on (the device is “Alarm On Light”. Then Magic Home to turn lights on (which lights “Cabinet lights”) In Magic Home my device is called “Cabinet Lights” and I currently have 2 scenes, 1 called “Alarm on light” and the second called “Alarm off light”. At the Graph. api site I have authorized IFTT to access my works with Smartthings devices from my location and allowed IFTTT to control these things (Alarm on light). I’m much happier after flashing with Tasmota. You can avoid the whole cloud to cloud setup.

SOLUTION! I finally gave up trying to intergrate the Magic Home controlled LED strip into my alarm system. Bought the Sylvania SMART + Flex RGBW LED strip. Minimal aggravation as I created "automations". It took three routines to turn them on at "away", "stay" and off at "home". NOTE, SmartThings Classic fought me and had different options for setup while Smartthings "new" was a little easier to use.
