Hello everyone.  I am currently in the process of buying a home that is still under construction.Hello everyone. I am currently in the process of buying a home that is still under construction. I want to implement a system that allows me to control basic stuff - lighting, curtains, air conditioning, etc. What do you recommend? I am considering a CCTV system to be implemented. Is it better to have it stand alone? I am also considering to buy a PV system with storage and I’m wondering if it is of any benefit to integrate it with previous system or just use stand alone systems? Thanks a lot Looking forward to get your help.

If the house is still being framed then run as much low voltage hard wire as possible. CAT6 to every room and behind every TV location. I would also install CAT6 for Access Points in every floor. For most homes one AP in the center of each floor is sufficient. Larger homes may require a network designer. I would also install CAT6 for your CCTV needs, though you could use RG-6. You want all of this cabling taken to a centralized low voltage closet that has wired connection back outside to connect to your broadband provider. This could be COAX, CAT6 or Fiber depends on where you live. I would also run low voltage wiring for door, window and even motion detectors if possible. The more hardwire, the happier you will be.
