Is there a zwave or zigbee 120 socket that is dimmable? I want to plug an array of lights for the patio and be able to adjust the brightness. I know I could use a device in-between, but I want to be able adjust from the socket.

@lemur good call. I think this is the only way to do this. Pluggable modules are allowed where hard wired outlets aren't.

I could absolutely be incorrect but I seem to remember something about electric codes not allowing dimmable wall sockets because of electric motors and that being one of the reasons the manufacturers aren't even making dimming sockets or plug strips.

Re-reading I believe you meant a hardwired outlet. In that case you could use a micro dimmer.  But be aware you are probably running afoul of code and would need to mark the outlet as lighting only.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I will need to re-think this.
