Use the old app.

@sammy old app was supposed to be gone by now . Now they say 30 days
by (10.2k points)
@castano31841 Hopefully it will be much longer as the new app is seriously lacking. Where did you hear the 30 day thing? Someone said that same thing was said at CES and that was over 30 days now.

@sammy ive been dealing with support on this project since December and each time they tell me 30 days. If you notice all the service updates they must be having a lot of trouble with new so I cant see it happening! I only wish I had never switched over( as they told me to)bc now no matter which app i use my info is there and I believe that is where my problems are . Both apps at same time

@castano31841 No issues running both apps for me, been doing it since they released the new app way back, They should not interfere with each other.

@sammy r you using ios as a presence sensor? Thats the only issue i have
by (10.2k points)
@castano31841 Nope IOS sucks. LOL J/K but I'm an Android user, my daughter does have an Iphone, will have to check out and see how her presence works with Life 360 and ST. That what I was using for her before. But I use the old app for all my presence stuff, I loath the new app.

Classic worked great with iOS but guess what. Samsung didn’t own them yet. Could it b maybe they want me to go Samsung phone

@castano31841 Classic worked great on my non Samsung Androids, We did just get the Samsung A50's and can't say ST wise anything runs better, Classic app just works as it should and new app is still lacking but has improved slowly.

I use life360, but I'm still using the old app.

@rap718 i tried life 360 and it wouldn’t work on new app and tech support had me try 50 things before a supervisor told me it wont work due to their security practices

Webcore presence sensor is what we use. You can narrow down your range closer in webcore app than in life360 also.

+1 for this method. Works great.

@samalla what physical device does the WebCore precense use? The ST phone presence is so lagged its unusable
by (2.2k points)
@edisonedit it is an iOS app

Webcore on iOS phone here too. Works well

I use RBoy for Schlage and Yale. One on presence-based activation (when people arrive or leave) and the other based on condition sensors and time,

Why doesn't it work in new app? Did you turn it on as a presence sensor under settings?
by (950 points)
@hinder they say it goes against security rules and wont work with Apple

Who is “they? ” Works fine for me and many others, old app or new, and more reliable than Life360 at least for me. Look under Settings - Use Phone Location and make sure the app has location access at all times.

My iPhone works reasonably fine as a presence sensor. Is it turned on under settings in the app? And are the app location services permissions set correctly? And Classic deleted from your phone?

August lock unlocks when you arrive and can automatically lock after however many minutes of being closed you want. Or you can get the number pad to lock it on your way out.

I use router WiFi presence - previously I had a script running on my old Asus router which used a webhook to flip a virtual presence sensor (search AsusWRT WiFi Presence). Since I retired that I got a TP Link Deco mesh system which can use IFTTT to do both arrive and depart, so used the existing webhooks. Note that other mesh systems (Google for example, but others too) can't do triggers for both arrive and depart, they just do arrive only.

@virgina10 I have the TP LINK Deco didn’t know that

Yeah. You need the Virtual Presence Sensor from the AsusWRT Presence thread on the community, use the same method but use IFTTT to trigger the webhook rather than the script
