I have a rental home in Kauai where the power goes out at least once a month. Given the power situation, I am considering buying a battery backup to attach the modem to. Anyone have issues with this? Is there a specific modem/router that everyone finds is more stable than others and works well with the hub? I purchased an Arris Surf Board 3. 0 mode/router. I also will be have an Ecobee Smart Thermostat, Schlage Camelot locks, open door sensors and Ring that I am looking to access from the hub so if there are issues that are known with this please let me know. What about lights? Do you recommend investing in the light bulbs? If so, which one’s do you recommend? Best Buy recommended Lifx?

Depending on the nature of the outages and how you get your internet service, it may not help the situation. That being said, APC or Tripplite have been my go to brands, just make sure it is appropriately sized for the load and how long you are typically without power.

@limacine1 My point was the internet service may drop out depending what level of power outage, cable internet often drops when the power goes out as the line-amps lose power.

@limacine1 pardon the delay. My favorite is the lutron caseta line of hardware. Tp-link kasa switches are my second favorite. No experience with ge switches.

When you get everything worked out, I volunteer to go to your home and check to make sure everything is working. It should take me about two weeks. Let me know.
