I have first generation Lowes Iris motion and door sensors (and much more) that are now useless. Any recommendations on buying sensors that will work with my Samsung Hub without breaking the bank?

Did you do the reclaim process with Iris before they sunset?

I switched to adt hub and have those sensors. Smartthings makes sensors but they are very proud of them. Maybe buy a couple at a time until you have your collection.

I want to turn my house into a smart house. Was ADT worth the money?

They dont support it anymore, but I like it. I wouldn't recommend getting it now though.

@hist I am also an iris refugee who switched to the SmartThings/ADT system. My second gen sensors and switches made the switch painlessly. It is a good system, once you accept that the ADT monitored security system only works with SmartThings/ADT sensors. You can get self monitored security using other sensors, but the hub (and ADT) will not use them — you must use the SmartThings monitor. I actually have both installed but use my ADT sensors for securing the house. However, the system is no longer in production, and extra sensors may be hard to find. Both ADT and Samsung have told me that they plan to support the system, but there have been no firmware updates in at least a year. So, I’m not comfortable recommending this system to new users, unless they accept that it has some severe caveats. It was heavily discounted though, and so far works for me.

AFAIK, there are a limited set of hubs that can use first gen iris sensors. None of the big names (maybe hubitat? ). There was an effort to revive the Iris system as ARCUS, using the code Lowe’s released, but I have lost track of where that stands.

@exteroceptor I believe I've read several places that Hubitat does - have even considered this as an add on hub to my system due to being able to get the iris gen 1 stuff cheap. Lol
