You will need a contact sensor or tilt sensor to go with it.

Not 100% true, he can create the open and close buttons. It just wont show status.

@fascicle agreed but why would anyone want to do that?

Incidentally, I've been getting pissed at my sensors as it keeps reporting "closing" and never closes (sometimes). I've been thinking about going back to open and close. I agree though, sensors is better (normally)

@fascicle I switched a tilt sensor for a contact sensor. It would randomly day it's open when it isn't.

Contact or tilt senor is not required. You can still set it up within ST (utilizing the app I sent on the other message). Otherwise, use the MyQ app on google play, that works fine if you get everything setup.

@roughandtumble you can control it without another sensor in ST. It helps to have the sensor to know what state the door is in.

@roughandtumble just depends if you want access to your smart home stuff in 1 app or multiple apps.

@roughandtumble it is if you buy another sensor.

@roughandtumble either a tilt sensor or a contact sensor. Cost depends on which of the many sensors out there you choose. I think a ST contact sensor is around 17 bucks.

@cimon get a tilt sensor if you want to automate it. Also you can use Alexa routines to geofence it.

@weakness209 You can use a contact sensor too.
