Hi there - I have Ring cameras integrated with ST hub. Works great. I’d like to add Ring garden lights, but Ring says need one of their hubs. . but do you though if you already have ST hub? Can I integrate through that?

I believe they use a nonstandard protocol for the sake of "extended range" so, no, they won't communicate with anything but their hub designed specifically for that purpose. I would recommend getting regular low voltage landscape lights and plug the transformer into something like this

You would need rings hub. Also I think I’ve read that rings lighting devices are not supported in Smartthings

@anjelicaanjou8259 just following up on this. This looks nice, but really heavy duty. Is it designed for pumps and larger amp services? Just wondering if overkill for lighting?

@skateboard2 why would it be over kill? Think of electricity like water. Do you want a small pipe or a big pipe? Second this application is good for a lot of lighting, regardless of how heavy the load. A friend uses this for several lights to run in back yard.

I guess I meant overkill from a price perspective. All my circuits are 15 AMP, so if just using for lighting I don't necessarily need something this big. Was thinking from a price perspective, if they had something smaller/less heavy duty, wouldn't be as much $'s.

@skateboard2 most simple outdoor plug sockets are rated for 15amp circuits. Remember the rating is a failsafe filter. The lights and devices will only soak up what it needs. You can plug in a two 2 amp coffee maker on a 15 amp circuit and not blow up the coffee maker. GE so far, for price, has been very reliable in quality. You can buy an outdoor switch from Merkury and be happy but it's only rated for 15 amp. The more heat equals the more work it has to do. I wouldn't skip on quality for price as nice this switch is outside in the changing elements of the outdoors.

@anjelicaanjou8259 understood. Makes sense.

@skateboard2 plus it gives you room to expand your circuit and increase the potential load in the future
