My hub or my modem?  I have the SmartThings wi-fi hub connected via ethernet to a Spectrum Technicolor cable modem. My hub or my modem? I have the SmartThings wi-fi hub connected via ethernet to a Spectrum Technicolor cable modem. All works well- usually! Problem is if Iose power or the cable goes out, when things are restored the SmartThings Hub will not reconnect. It usually takes power cycling the hub and the modem, unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet cable, and muttering incantations to get it back. Doesn't help that the hub is managed by Plume which of course won't work without the internet connection, so I have no idea what the hub is doing. My Asus router had no problem in this regard and just resumed normal operation. Anyone have any experience of this or can offer any pointers?

I have mine connected to a spectrum router via ethernet and don’t have a problem. I even have them both plugged into a wifi switch so I can reset them.

@nerves345 bit what if you’re away?

@dye I am usually away. It automatically cycles off and on if the internet goes out. And if I tell it to reset it turns off and turns back on after 30 seconds.

@nerves345 I don’t know how you go that if your hub isn’t working?

@dye it’s not controlled via the hub. It has its own app.

@nerves345 must have good wi-fi range if it works while you’re away!  I’m just not aware of any autonomous Wi-Fi switches that can exercise an automation when the internet drops?

Maybe try a factory reset on your modem, Steve. It sounds like it’s not renewing the DHCP lease for your SmartThings hub after it goes down and comes back up.

@seward that’s what I’m thinking, but I can’t get into either the modem nor the hub to see what’s going on! The problem is, how do I do a reset if I’m not here?
