I have installed IKEA blinds with the new native DH in the new app. I would prefer to use the button through ST rather than the repeater if possible. but after adding the button to ST I can only chose one setting each for "up" and "down". I would like to control the blinds manually by holding the buttons, like if I use it through the repeater. Is it possible?

I have the same setup, and the buttons can only be configured for actions on press or long press. So no way of stopping the blind with a release. So I have set long presses to be partial open or close positions.

The button I got with the blind only registers push. Not hold. Replaced it with the regular ikea button. I have set hold to fully open/close. Push moves the blind 20%.

The Ikea Tradfri buttons would probably benefit from a firmware update, which is only possible by temporarily connecting them to a Tradfri Gateway, then moving back to ST. I did that with mine.

@chandler Well, do the updated buttons register release?

@feldspar the Tradfri wireless switch buttons, once I firmware updated them, were all recognised by ST, with no need for any additional DH. This allowed press and long press to be used, but sadly not button release

Like @chandler says, the buttons don't register or report release. It's a shame.

I have 3 blinds and would like to control them all with one button.

In ST define a Scene that contains the positions you want for each of the three blinds, and then trigger that scene with a single button.

@chandler Did that for open, close and fixed setting. But would like to manually choose the position.

@farci7 understood but it seems not to be possible at present.

Should be possible with webcore. First press starts the motor and second press stops it. It won't be instant, precise and smooth like a wired, professional setup though.

@feldspar Interesting idea. I have considered investigating how to maybe pair the blind to ST and the switch to the blind for local manual control, but my first attempts last year seem to indicate that was not possible. I have not updated my blind firmware since I bought it though, so perhaps it is worth doing that and then another try? Although manual control is a good thing to have, I aim to have the blind operation sufficiently well automated that is is not needed. I have made progress but not yet completely succeeded with that aim. BTW my blind is still running on the initial battery charge, which is impressive since it operates open/close each day.

@chandler I just tried pairing a blind with a control, but that interferes with the pairing with ST. Someone in another group suggested a smart app called advanced button controller, but I have been unsuccessful with that so far.

If the processing is done in the cloud, I can understand why momentary real-time controls are not supported. Any lag would be variable and highly frustrating.

Processing is not done in the cloud by default from IKEA.

Really? I hope that means that we can look forward to more vendors with local DTHs and Automations.

Sorry, I meant with the IKEA hub. If you implement it in ST it becomes cloud based, even though you don't need a custom DH. It's really annoying things can't be processed locally. Same with webcore. I'd really like things to work even if my ISP goes down.

Ivar, thanks for the clarification. I could be mistaken, but I thought I had read somewhere recently that there were rumours of Webcore being made available to process locally. Have you seen that anywhere?

No, that's news to me.
