Hi, I just wanted some advice/suggestions. We were due to go on holiday in June and I had a call from teletext to say it was cancelled, luckily we only paid a deposit, however they are now advising that we can only have the deposit back as a voucher and the only thing I can do is take the voucher and after 21st July put in a request to get a refund, we definitely don’t want a voucher as we don’t know when we’ll be able to book again. I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?

The news today I thought said that the companies were breaking the law not offering refunds. I may have got it wrong but this is what I believed to have heard.

@windup46 that’s good it’s being recognised officially. I’m nervous about accepting vouchers. We read Virgin Atlantic is in trouble so why would we accept vouchers .

It was on the BBC this morning saying that they're breaking the law they have to give you a refund if you request it and it should be within 14 days although they are not meeting this timescale x

It's just been on the news again at lunch, by EU law they have to give you money back. They're hoping most people will accept vouchers as it's better for them but you are within your rights to refuse.

TUI are doing the same, you have to wait for your voucher and then request a refund, so just await them to send you the details then put the request through for the refund.

It's against the law to not refund you, was on the news.

You are entitled to a refund by law. Unfortunately no one is ensuring they do this. The problem with accepting a voucher is that if the company go bust before you get it refunded, you may not be covered by ATOL/ABTA. Hopefully the Government will step in and make it clear if we are covered.
