Question

Anyone applied for passports just incase? We are supposed to fly end of July and need to renew passports but online says only apply if needed in an emergency?

Mine ran out end of March so needed a renewal. Did it online on 1st April and it was processed on the 2nd and posted out on the 3rd and i received it on the 5th. Plus its £10 cheaper doing it yourself online

I sent of for my sons first passport 2 weeks ago Monday just gone. I’ve had a text saying they’ve recieved it but not had it yet x

Thanks. They are renewals for my boys, think I will just try it! Got the pictures done just before lockdown and have been holding off but don't want to risk waiting any longer. X

@eckardt With my eldest first passport it took 5 working days to send and get back. I think if both parents have a British passport it’s quicker, but I could be wrong x

I need 3 redoing for July but holiday prob isn’t going to go ahead so i’m trying to hang off as long as pos until a decision is made about future travel. saves me spend nearly £300

I applied for a renewal online on 18th April and it took about 10 days to be delivered back to me

We applied on 17th April one child renewal and one for y 16yr old first adult and they are still not back?

Applied for child's first passport and they got everything on the 18. 03, still waiting to receive it

@aquilar96 oh no! They do say first passports take longer hopefully you get it soon.

@eckardt their guideline said 3 weeks at the time, then after about 6 weeks they sent me a text it would take "longer than usual"

Applied in January for renewal and we got ours back last week, did it all online only had to. post old passports to them, had to send them to Peterborough and Belfast .

@thunderstone10 took a photo with my mobile agsinst a magnolia wall bottom of stairs . Then uploaded it to passport page it tells you if ok or not took about dozen attempts of taken photo of me to be accepted only 2 attempts for 11 year old photo to be accepted .

@thunderstone10 it is easy yes you can fo the application on line then when it asks for photo cluck on when it says take photo or if you have already taken some click on upload x

It's just the going into isolation and again when you come home that puts us off. And our employers won't pay for two weeks isolation when we come back. So looks like no holiday. We have our passports sorted

My daughters renewal has been over 4 wks, still waiting. Mine runs out this month too, so I need to do it soon.

Applied 23rd April, got husbands back in less than a week, still waiting for two childrens. Ignored advice to only apply in an emergency because nobody knows if holidays will go ahead.

I'd say out of date passport and you are hoping to fly end July it's an emergency !

@cheekbone Connelly unfortunately not. Compassionate and urgent cases are an emergency. The offices are running an limited rota of staff at the moment.

I’m in the same position for my son ! I read on there web that they are still processing apps. Like you I’m unsure we’ll actually get away the beginning of Sept but I need to get it just in case. The only problem I have faced is being able to get digital pics done as all shops closed as not essential to do renewal on line so it’s looking like I’ll just have to get pics from a booth and post renewal application to them xx

We took our own it took 3 attempts to be accepted forx11 year olds photo and Bout a dozen attempts for mine, by taking them ourselves . x

All offices are running with reduced staffing levels and will be for the foreseeable while social distancing is in place. You can apply but there is no timescale when these will be processed unfortunately. Emergency cases are for urgent and compassionate needs and there is a criteria in place which I would need to fall into and provide evidence. To be perfectly honest, I doubt any holidays will be going ahead in July.

@landre I applied for a passport begining of march and had 2 sent out within days, ordered my other sons passport as his was renewal in april and still waiting :/ x
