Hello, our holiday in 2 weeks has been cancelled. Company are calling us tomorrow to discuss a refund or rebook for next year. Original holiday was booked for lanzarote but were considering changing the destination. There are 3 adults, 2 girls. 1 will be 16, the other 11. A couple of questions Would you reccomend crete with the kids? We have an aunt who lives there so would be nice to visit. Are there any other destinations you any of you would reccomend? Somewhere warm with a nice beach. Not too comercialised, things for the girls to do. Hopefully in may. Not turkey or tenerife, went to these on our last holidays and would like somewhere different.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Greek islands. We've been to many of them with our children of all ages over the years.

I absolutely love Greece. Very under rated. Crete is particularly good for families. Most of the very expensive family hotels are located in Crete. Has lovely beaches, lots of history and a few buzzy towns. Enough for a teenage who wants it lively. But parents don't want it too lively.

Only stayed in Chania, it was stunning, very family oriented, beautiful beach, I struggled with the food though and only for that reason I’ve never been back, the apt’s we stayed at back then were rated number 1 on trip advisor, owners were so friendly and nothing was a bother for them ( we had three teenage girls with us) felt really safe out walking at night too

I had a great time in naxos and paros, which have all the charm of the cyclades but were much more affordable than santorini or mykonos

Went to crete 5 years ago when I was 15. And we stayed at the below, it has a waterslide or two and two pools. Cheap but in an ideal location it is on a hill but your in-between piscianpiano (old town, quaint) and hersonisos (new town, lively). There are nicer hotels if you have a bit more to spend (around the area), but this had the best of everything for us me at 15 my mum and my grandparents. There is a decent waterpark near by but never got to it as I was the only one who could swim.

@bagby it's basic but does the job, I don't know if it still happens or will next year but there was a TUI rep that visited the hotel who was excellent and was super helpful since we booked through them. X
