For those of you who had a doctors note saying what your goal weight should be, what did it need to say? Did you just take that in and that became your goal weight?

My physician just wrote on a prescription: Recommended weight is 165. I gave it to them and that is my goal. I would look and be very sick at 145 the “healthy BMI”

@scriber im also a healthcare professional. I guess im just suprised doctors are writting notes for people to be overweight. I guess i need to find myself local doctor who will do this. That way i can be lifetine and save some money. Thanks for the tip
by (1.1k points)
@boycott you are incredibly rude!
by (31.1k points)
@scriber im not rude . im going to make phone calls in the morning to find a dr who will write a note it will be worth the co pay.
by (1.1k points)
@boycott I didn’t ask my doctor for a note to save money or work the system. I asked for a note to be healthy! My endocrinologist who is my physician believes the BMI is very old and is not accurate. He states the goal would be half your height as a waist circumference. I have coupled WW and exercise to have lost my weight and continue to have success. What kind of healthcare do you do or work in?
by (31.1k points)
@scriber i work in a hospital as a nurse. 1/2 height as a waist circumference sounds good. Also makes my waist about 3 inches too big.

My doctor stated the weight and signed it. I made a copy for the weight watchers staff.
by (29.2k points)
@fleming2 I think that the WW “healthy weight ranges” are too low for done people and their doctor agrees as well. My husband had his raised 2x due to medication not “allowing “ him to go to the WW weight.
by (18.3k points)
@arvillaarvin922 I agree, especially when you are over 60!
by (29.2k points)
Even in the old days!
by (9.7k points)
@fleming2 :Exactly. I'll be 69 next month and no way would I look good st the weight WW has as my optimum weight. I think 145 was the top of the weight range for me, but I looked and felt great at 160 pounds and I set that as my goal weight.

So it's the point of this to be able to be a lifetime member and not have to pay?
by (2.6k points)
@tashinatashkent5359 please let us know how it works out. Your reasons make good sense.
by (9.7k points)
@boycott :I'd rather be 15 pounds over weight than morbidly obese. Right now I'm about 30 pounds away from my goal weight. I remember when I was 80 pounds over that. ☺
by (9.7k points)
@mown6258 :For me, it's to be at a weight I feel good at and is sustainable. I actually don't care about paying. In fact, my plan is to donate the money to a charity once I reach lifetime.
by (31.1k points)
@voronezh i agree 15lbs overweight is better than obesity.
by (9.7k points)
@boycott :Exactly. Plus I've never cared about a number on a scale. I just realized I've spent the entire day chatting with you ladies and I have only eaten 2 soft boiled eggs and a slice of toast. Plus I just went in my closet and started trying on some of my smaller clothes and a lot of them fit. That's how I get my motivation to keep on striving to get to my goal weight. Who knows that if I reach that I won't try to lose more? But I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't. Good luck to you!

I think the Goal is to be at a healthy weight, and for you to be happy in your body.

What if you do on line only?
by (2.1k points)
@cioffred If you are an on line only member, you will never be able to attain WW lifetime membership. If you want to become a lifetime member, you would need to lose at least 5 pounds in studio, and then maintain that goal weight for 6 weeks. Goal is determined by either 1. BMI chart or 2. a note from your doctor. After that, you would have to weigh-in monthly at the studio, no more than 2 pounds above goal.
by (2.1k points)
Meagen, not quite. You should join in studio when you have between 5 and 10 pounds still to lose. Your in studio starting weight (measured in studio) must be at least 5 pounds higher than your LT goal. So if your goal is 140, you should buy a monthly pass when you are around 145-150. Lose the weight you need to, maintain for 6 weeks, and get your lifetime charm and free e-tools for as long as you stay at goal (or not more than +2). But you must weigh in monthly during each calendar month. Does that make sense?
by (2.3k points)
@multiplication thank you for the info. I’ve never made lifetime before, but when I hit 150(again! )that’s my magic spot! I’ll be a lifetime in my heart
by (2.1k points)
@cioffred that's what's most important! Healthy and happy
by (2.1k points)
@toughminded WW uses the standard BMI charts for the healthy range. As others have said, if you and your doctor have another weight in mind, go for it! Most importantly, be healthy and happy

IMHO and my drs opinion, their goal is unrealistic. he wrote a letter many yrs ago. had my realistic goal been WW goal, I’d be a stick and bones. over a yr ago, I went down to 133 and everyone thought my cancer was back. WW said I should weigh 128. my dr says no more than 145. I feel great at 137-139. I currently weigh betw 142-144 and feel miserable. back to getting serious here but I also don’t want to pay.
by (6k points)
@mossy may I ask how tall you are?
by (1.6k points)
@downthrow I’m short. less than 5’2” but I think a lot has to do w how u r built.
by (6k points)
@mossy I get it, I am 5’2” as well and I also was thinking 145 would be a good goal weight for me. Got a ways to go , 60 pounds before I reach that.
by (1.6k points)
@downthrow it honestly depends on how one is built and muscle mass. as I’m climbing in age, 64 here, the weight I’ve gained seems to be going to my belly. it’s definitely my fault bq I’ve worked out my entire life and since Tsgiving, the mornings are too cold for AZ and I go nowhere. I was never like this. uugghh! I do plan on starting soon. I hope. lol. U need to pick your own ideal weight. do 5 lb increments. once u get to 145, u may want to lose more. we just don’t know til we get there. good luck!
by (9.7k points)
@mossy :I'm 5'2, but I have a big bust. Sad to say, I lost a lot of that also when I was smaller! I looked great at 160. I haven't been 145 since I was in my 30's.
by (1.6k points)
@voronezh My girls are big as well. I’ve been the same size since I was in my 20s. I jokingly say, I weigh 110 and the girls weigh the rest.
by (9.7k points)
@mossy :Hahaha!  I will say I was very upset when I lost my cleavage. I actually still have the bras I had when I weighed 160. I don't believe I actually fit in those tiny little things! I'm anxious to see what I'll look like 30 pounds lighter. I might need a boob job! Good luck! ☺
by (1.6k points)
@voronezh U want to lose 30 lbs? Did u or WW pick that weight for you? U go w what feels great for you. good luck as well. btw, u want to find your cleavage again. my friend says, push in, push up bra is the best. if I did that, I’d suffocate myself (lol) but it works for her.

by (31.1k points)
@haircut6 lucky. i can easily sustain 165 and wat what i want. i wish my dr would think like that
by (1.4k points)
@boycott it took me some time to find her, lemme tell ya!
by (31.1k points)
@haircut6 il start my search tommorrow, ill continue my weight loss because i think 160 is way to much for my height buy this way i can go for free

Mine wrote me a note that is 15 lbs above the top number that WW says I should weigh. I wish she had agreed on a higher number but it’s nice to have a more realistic number to try to reach for goal.
by (18.3k points)
@punctuate92 mine was only 5 pounds over. Now, I can't get back to it! Really struggling. I let emotions get to me and ate like crazy.
by (3.5k points)
@fleming2 you reached it before, you will again. Have faith!

We did biometrics at work and no one came out with a healthy BMI even the people who run daily and look perfectly fit were in the unhealthy BMI group according to CIGNA who did the Biometric clinic. Not realistic.

My doc recommended is 5lbs higher than high end at WW. I’m working toward that 5 lbs less but feel GREAT at this weight (I’m week 3 or 4 of maintenance right now). Note just stated recommended doc weight and signed, no issues with changing my healthy weight at WW!
