Two years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was offered a 12 week membership to ww from my doctor. I lost about 100lbs and I no longer take any medication. I was told to have a 30 min walk every day, which I did before breakfast and I cut out nearly all carbs. I still eat very little bread, rice, pasta or potato. I have been at or very near goal for the past 12m, I still follow ww but not so ridged.

Diabetic for almost 30 years. Most insurance will pay for you to get nutrition classes or counseling. If so, do it. Otherwise get some booklets from your doctor. Almost every food group has carbs. The only ones that don’t are meats and fats. (Hello Keto). Carbs raise your blood sugar and most women should only eat about 30-45 grams of carbs per meal but your doctor would know best. You have to eat carbs for energy. You don’t want to eat too few or your blood sugar could bottom out and trust me you don’t want that. You really need to push your doctor to give you some guidance Best wishes. Knowledge is power!

There is a WW group on FB for diabetics. I’m insulin resistant. Try eating lower-glycemic fruit like apples and berries. My dietician advises me to eat only 1/2 banana a day.

I do not think that in general that WW is a diabetic diet. I've read posts from people saying they were pre-diabetic and are no longer. If you are taking insulin, you should follow the diet recommended by your doctor. ETA: I say this because my friends who are diabetic count carbs & things that WW doesn't count.

@prerogative she said she’s prediabetic but still yes she should consult with her doctor!

@centralization I eat one banana a day. I also eat some other fruits and veggies to balance it out. I’m also borderline diabetic and my mom is diabetic. It’s not exactly what you eat. It’s the portions

I use Itrackbites instead of WW (which my daughter follows), Itrackbites has a carb conscious program that is free. This has helped me stay on track with my diabetes while I'm able to help my daughter with her WW plan.

Retired RN, CDE here. See a RD, CDE to help with food. First now: 3 servings of 2 oz of proteins 6 - 8 servings of veges (corn, peas, winter squash and potatoes are part of starches, not veges) 4 servings of starch (peas, corn, potatoes, winter squash, breads) 2 servings diary (lowfat, not cheese) 2- 3 servings fat (includes cheese and oils, butter, saturated fats) 2 servings of fruit Split into 4 to 6 meals. Water 6-8 cups per day. The RD may tweet it some.

Moderation in all things. Even zero point foods

@flaming98 yes I keep reading about how zero point food shouldn’t be eaten in large quantities! It not only increases calorie intake but it reinforces negative eating behavior. I just switched to green because there are more points but less zero point foods. Hoping this helps with my over consuming!

I am diabetic on insulin. I visit my dietician and go over a diabetic food guide regularly. I then eat according to that guide using healthy gfoods within my ww blue points. Retaining great A1C eesults.
