So is anyone else scared to indulge? I have plenty of weeklies and I have definitely used some but sometimes the thought of eating something "indulgent" makes me feel like I'm on a slippery slope. I know I need to develop self control and those meals are important because they help my metabolism but I just wondered if anyone else felt this way?

Not at all. Because this is a lifestyle. It’s not a diet where you deprive yourself. I still eat the foods I love, however I’ve learned to eat them with better moderation. I love candy, but instead of eating it daily, multiple times a day, I choose to have it once a week. I’ve successfully lost 70lbs with this mindset.

@angelitaangell it was a bit of a challenge at first. I ordered granola bars and was send 4lbs if dove chocolate. I put them in the freezer. It took me a year to eat 2lbs by treating myself to 1-2 pieces a week.

I haven’t eaten any weeklies yet. I’m still learning

@khasi your weeklies are meant to be used. But experiment with them. I experimented with mine and found I had better success when I ate half to all my weeklies. Not only in my losses but not feeling deprived.

I just had a big blowout weekend. Mac and cheese, cheesesteak sandwich, wine. Yep, let's see weigh in day. But it's ok. I needed it. Back at it starting now

@mouthwatering ty. Same to you. It's a way of life. it wont end. So I will eat good stuff if I need to. But my thinking has changed too that I have to watch. :-)

I keep a bag of the Dove dark chocolates in the house, I will have up to 3 in a day, Keeps that sugar monkey on my back happy and I don't over indulge on other things. No, I don't track them, I suck on them and enjoy every moment. Some days I may only have one and some days none, but never more than 3 in a day.

If I want something and I have the points, then I eat it and I don't feel guilty about it. I have found that if I keep saying no, that is when I end up getting out of control with it. But if I tell myself that I can have anything that I want as long as I can fit it in, then I don't feel the need to overindulge. For example, yesterday I wanted girl scout cookies. I ate 3 of them for 7 points and moved on. It didn't make me want anymore because I knew that I can have them whenever I want to as long as I have the points. That's what makes this a lifestyle.

I use my weigh in day to indulge in whatever I want but being mindful . If you deprive yourself all the time it’s not a good thing imo but get back to your program right away.

I am currently on that slippery slope. I am hoping to get back on track tomorrow and continue through Lent.

Are you going to go the rest of your life without eating pizza?

Here is how I handle holidays. I figure there are about 20 food days a year. Holidays, birthdays, bbqs, etc. It is not those 20 days that get us into trouble. It is what we do with the other 345 days. At the beginning of the year I mark down 15 days where I plan on enjoying myself without guilt. I keep 5 aside for spontaneous celebrations. I know these days are coming so I can be super good on the days leading up to them and the days following. I expect a gain/maintain on my next weigh in but I am okay with that because it is temporary and I enjoyed myself. I also have learned that I can eat my Birthday cake guiltlessly, but I don't need to eat everyone's birthday cake. Unless they are part of my 20. For instance, I have cake on my husband's and my moms but not my siblings, niece, nephews, cousins, unless they are milestones. Then I might consider making it one of my 20. As much as I love my work family, I don't use my 20 on work celebrations. My 20 day system works well for me because it make it easier for me to stay on track when I know one of those days is just around the corner. It works for me. Also just so you know. Those holiday candies are the same candy you avoid all year long they are just in fancy magical holiday colored tinfoil. Remember that!

I had a steak and cheese hoagy on Friday. Still lost weight. Just plan your points ahead of time. It doesn't hurt to eat stuff you really like now and then. just not all the time.

I find that I hoard points through out the day and don't use the weeklies. I need to stop that I know. I have lost 14. 6 in 10 weeks but find there's enough to choose from without needing the extra points. I have 43 weeklies this week. It's still a work in progress.

I’m planning an indulgence with Girl Scouts s’mores cookies. The one with the graham cracker in it. Every once in awhile is ok with me.

Definitely. Don’t ever use my weeklies or the points from exercising.

The slippery slope scares me. Once you start it's so very hard to get back on track.

Stay away from red light foods, anything that controls you until it’s gone. I treat myself with things like protein one bars or chocolate rice cakes. Each are 2 pts.

I do, I had a couple of chocolate covered rasins yesterday and I had the points and yet it worried me. I had been without sugar fr six or seven weeks.

I just got home from a cruise. I gained 8/10ths of one pound. Before, I would have gained 8 pounds! This is about a lifestyle change and making new habits. You don't need to deprive yourself, nor do you need to be perfect. You are in this for the long haul!

@xe883 I had yoghurt with fruit for breakfast, or an egg with toast. I hit the salad-bar for lunch. Then I enjoyed what I wanted for dinner. Many nights, I didn't order dessert - I was just too full. Instead of a frozen concoction or fruity mixed drink, I would have a glass of wine. I know how many points that is! Good luck - and have a ball!

I’m that way too. I knew someone who would take the weekends off but I know I would never be able to do that.

It’s not that I’m exactly afraid to indulge - I have just learned through the years - there is a price you pay when you veer off the program. I’m no longer willing to pay that price. I hear people talk about cheat days - why? It’s not like staying within the points you have is torture. To me it’s just a step backward - maybe I’m weird.

It’s the diet mentality. We are conditioned to think Weight Loss = Diet = Deprivation. WW is about balance. Weeklies aren’t really extras and definitely not a penalty. They are part of the equation for us to lose. They make this flexible and livable

I’ve been on the program for 13 months now and have lost 63 pounds. I was also terrified to indulge for fear I would break the spell of my success. After I passed the 50 pound mark I started to gain more confidence in myself and my relationship with food. You live in a world with pizza and pasta and cake. Every once in a while you should have an indulgence if you really want it. This is intended to be a lifestyle change so you don’t ever want to feel like you are deprived.
