I’m 250 lbs and I have a hard time walking any distance. It’s been this way for a while. So I have been thinking it’s my weight. So I joined WW a couple weeks ago. I really want to figure out what my problem is with motivation in general. I get tired so easily and my housework has also suffered. Can anyone relate? I just am worried that I have something else going on with my health. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know. There were days where I felt like I was dying. Once I got "control" over my eating I am 100% better. My house is cleaner, I started walking in stores where I could hold a carriage and it helped. Force yourself to get out and about every day for a few minute. I will be watching to see you progress.

All good advice. I’m in the same boat . But I find (as much as I hate to admit). That when I really limit my carbohydrates, they can cause inflammation. I do feel much better, and don’t ache as much. ‍♀️. Hang in there

I know for me, this time of year especially we should be supplementing with a good quality liquid vitamin D. I also take a B complex and I find a HUGE increase in my energy. The d will take about a week to build up in your system. That said, if you don’t exercise one of the symptoms is that you feel tired. So I started with the vitamins to give me a little boost and then did what exercise I could, no matter how little. If you have mobility issues you can sit in a chair and do arm windmills, or flutter your legs in 30 second bursts with 1 minute rest in between, that will be good to start— alternate between legs and arms, do that for 5 or 10 mins a couple times a week.

Get a physical to rule out medical. Write a list of what you are thankful for. Being alive, see, hear, etc. Thankfulness, always helps me. Take B12. Wish you all the best❗

Find a pool to walk in and exercise in. Join a Y, look for aqua aerobics. You dont even have to swim. See if any local community center has one. I started at that weight and the pool eliminated obstacles to excercise that I did not even think of. Jiggling, workout clothes, being seen, general gravity issues. just keep moving.

I have problems also walking due to weight and neuropathy in my feet. I try to walk up our driveway and down and feel defeated. Talked to my doctor. He said it takes time to be able to go further. I have lost only 14 lbs since December 7th when I started WW. Been doing the green plan and keeping track of points. Everyone is different . I am not discouraged. You should keep at And not give up

If there are no other medical issues, try mall walking. It’s a great way to build up stamina. The temperature and surface is constant and there are plenty of places to stop and rest. Do as much as you can and increase little by little

If you can push yourself to do one more thing today than you did yesterday you’ll start to see a difference in yourself, your health, your house and your attitude. Stick with the diet even if you blow it - the next meal not the next day get back on track. I think of all the time that has slipped by me and now that I’m in the program time and weight is flying by - I was just thinking the other day geez if I hadn’t of just pushed my self I would still be where I was 6 months ago. You can do this

If you DO, each day gets a tiny bit better. Each day you get a tiny bit stronger. Each day you learn one tiny thing which, in the end, and added up, will have you enjoying success. If you DON'T, where will you be? What will you have accomplished by not even trying?. I've been where you are right now. I'm no longer there. Plodding, trial and error, success and falling off the wagon, I'm 80 pounds down the road of my 110 pound journey. WHAT is holding you back? One of the top 5 choices I've made. IN. MY. LIFE.
by (4.2k points)
@swept 80 lbs down is incredible! I would give anything to lose that. I will stick with it. I promise. Thanks for posting!
by (25.8k points)
Ronda, I'm so glad. Eating on what ever program you chose is very important. Moving. every day, is very important. Making the best possible choice in any given situation, is very important. but. in my humble opinion. Being excited about what you are doing. not just your goal. That's kind of made up and flexible . it's the process we have to embrace and ENJOY. Decisions are important but they come and go. MIND SET is just as valuable. The deeper the mind set, that this is now your CHOSEN WAY OF LIFE the better you'll do. We have to OWN it. Love it. BECOME it.

I'm 62 , couldn't hardly walk , out of breath and didnt like going anywhere anymore because My knees( have had injections in both a few times) and I couldn't because harder to breath, I was 304 pounds . I couldnt hardly make it a fourth of the way around the block. I made up my mind I need to lose weight as I went to a heart screening and got scared , my numbers were way off the chart. I joined WW Right away, forced my self to walk a little more each couple of days, and track everything I eat. Its not easy but I now weigh 92 pounds less. If I can do this , I know anyone can. It is hard sometimes but even if I eat to much or fast foods , I try again and get back on track the next day. I have a ways to go yet, my goal right now is to get under 200, I know I will and it's one day at a time, Good Luck, I'm pulling for you

Schedule an appointment with your doctor. Talk frankly about your concerns. Ask to see a social worker or behavioral specialist to help you understand how you think and act about food. Also do your labs and any referrals your doc orders. This is a good way to complement your commitment to yourself and WW.

It’s difficult at first, but doing more activities, a little just starting out will really give you more energy, which will spur you on to do a little more! A little walking, some stretching, going to the gym 2-3x a week, even just doing cardio (boring, but read a magazine, listen to books on tape, watch tv), walk and talk with a friend can be like therapy! Try some free YouTube videos , dance, yoga, Zumba, kickboxing? Just try everything, you’ll find yourself more active with more energy—you’re made to move, not stay still and gain weight! Bonus is getting in better shape and losing weight too! Good luck!

I can totally relate. For me a lot of it had to do with anxiety and depression. My starting weight wax 234lbs. I did WW for 9 months and lost 40lbs and motivation. It took a year and gaining almost half back to get started again. I joined several Facebook groups dedicated to WW and trolled the pages (as I’m online only). I read a post that in short stated that WW is not a diet but a lifestyle. I don’t know what about this post kicked my a$$ but I got motivated. I lost 54lbs reaching goal. with no exercise. It was the. That I started going to the gym then surpassed my goal. It helped me with my anxiety and depression. but not my house cleaning motivation. I need a Facebook group dedicated to that.

Start with little walks. Build up in 5 min increments. Then begin weights, low weights low reps and build up. Girl it’s hard af but I’ll tell you, as someone who used to get winded walking, I can now go for a decent hike with much better breathing and far less stops

by (4.2k points)
@bren37 your doc has a gym? I wish I could find a bariatric doc like that. I hate to admit it, but I had surgery and it failed. I should say I failed. I wish I would have lost weight the right way.

@glair67 my doctor referred me to a bariatric doctor and they have a gym at there office. I'm doing this because I'm a cancer survivor stage 3 colon cancer, last year I was in hospital cause I had specis in hospital for 5 weeks, and now I'm in stage 2 renial failure. So I really have to get myself together period no more playing around for me

I was 300 pounds when I started and had a hard time doing much. So my starting goal was just to do a little more each day. I got a fit bit and in the beginning I was barely able to get 1500 steps a day. When I went to the Mall or Zoo or places like that with my family I had to rent motorized wheelchairs. Fast forward-150 pounds and I now get on average 15, 000 to 25, 000 steps per day. I know it’s hard in the beginning just make small little goals and push on, I promise you it is worth it! Good luck you can do this!

@nitrobenzene your a inspirational for us big girls that are on the journey of losing weight. I'm excited about my journey thought working on battles daily and just taking baby steps
by (4.2k points)
@nitrobenzene thank you for sharing your story. Amazing! I’m having a hard time withdrawing from sugar and I want diet soda and candy. Nighttime is hard for me. Did you have a hard time staying on program in the beginning?
by (5.1k points)
@bren37 baby steps it the way to win this war! There were times I battled just getting through 1 meal or one afternoon stretch without going to food. I will tell you it does get easier but sometimes still have those battles. It took me 11 months to lose my fist 100 pounds and then 18 more months to lose the other 50. From the middle of 2018 to the end of 2019 life body slammed me  in 2018 I had to court commit my then 16 year old to rehab, then began 6 long months of driving 3 hours up and 3 hours back by my self (single mom) to see her. Cookies became my support. I ended up putting 50 pounds back on Then just when I got her home in January of 2019 I lost my home and job ( I did in home daycare) fell behind and lost kids and found myself homeless. My oldest daughter let me move into her nice basement and my 17 year old moved in with my ex-husband. I was able to find a job. In August my daughter ( the now 17 year old) had a baby who at 36 hours old had to have open heart surgery ( he’s 6 months old now and doing great) I was at the hospital the whole time he was in. A week after he got out I was put in with congestive heart failure. Spent a week in the hospital and they said I needed open heart surgery to replace my aorta valve so went home to do the prep work for that which included having all of my teeth pulled because they were bad and it could damage the new valve. The next week after that I passed out and was rushed to the hospital where I ended up staying until after my open heart surgery so the whole month of October was spent in the hospital. Got out and went home to heal. By this time I had lost 15 of the 50 that went back on. Started cardiac rehab and in January 2020 was finally able to go back to work. Really got tight on program again and am down another 20 pounds since Jan 1st. So that being said although life happened and spun out of control for me the 1 thing I never did was quit! Just keep pushing on!
by (5.1k points)
@glair67 actually no I didn’t I was so focused on getting this weight off that it just drove me. I just refused to allow myself to cheat! Even when I thought about cheating my words that I had shared in meeting ( I just don’t allow myself to cheat ) came back to haunt me. I was at Walmart one time and thought “ you know what I’ve never cheated before but I’m going to now” went to my go to favorite which was chocolate covered peanuts ( which I used to eat a whole big bag at one setting) but of course I scanned it and it was like 88 pts. So I’m walking around the store with them in my cart and in my head I hear one of the girls from meeting say I’m going to follow @nitrobenzene/activity" class="qa-user-link">nitrobenzene and @nitrobenzene/activity" class="qa-user-link">nitrobenzene says “ I just don’t allow myself to cheat “ well guess who had to put those chocolate covered peanuts right back on the shelf  as far as diet soda that was a hard one for me as I drank 8 to 12 cans a day. I just made myself stop and hadn’t had any for 2 years. Then fell off that wagon but found when I drank it it made me want sweets like crazy so back off I got. Nighttime tried to be a real struggle for me but when my daily points were gone I was done, I’d just go to bed know that my points would reset in the morning and I’d be ok. My best advice is just push through this hard time, stay focused but also be kind to yourself. I’m here if you need anything. I love being able to help others a long there journey!

@nitrobenzene I don’t even know what to say. . I’m just speechless . Honey you are a warrior, not just a survivor. I’m hoping your words will crack something in my head. Last night, I just bottomed out. I ate a box of Mac and cheese and 2 things of candy. I think I need to get into counseling. I’m a sexual abuse survivor. My dad sexually abused my sister and I for eight years and I just don’t know how to stop eating sometimes. Ugh
