I am not going to quit, but day 21 on purple. using close to daily pts, never more than 5 weekly points. increased my activity level substantially, drink at least 60oz of water a day. low sodium and I am trying to keep low on carbs and fat and small portions on zero foods. I am not saving up points for junk, eating lots of veggies, (no starchy ones) and lean protein) trying to to eat too much at night. I cute out all sugar and candy and I measure and track every bite. all that and I am down 1. 4 lbs. I contacted the coach in the app and they said my body was "preparing" to lose weight soon. help? the only weight I am losing is thru tears of frustration. I have been trying to lost weight since September, I did fitness pal and then Spark people and lost and gain the same two lbs. I saw my GP and then a nutritonal counselor to make sure that there were no physical reasons I can't lose weight, Nutrition counselor had me tweak the balances of fat, carbs etc to now avail. She then had me increase my intake a bit to rule out the "not eating enough" idea. I tried South Beach and dropped 4lbs the first week, nothing the 2nd but found that low low carb triggers my Afib, so I came to WW. ideas?
I am not going to quit, but day 21 on purple.

Of 60oz is 1. 7L (like google tells me) that's not a lot. Maybe try to increase the amount with tea? I generally stop loosing weight when I snack uncontiously. An apple here, a cookie there, tasting dinner while still cooking.

Aah and I feel I deserve food after exercise and eat more kcals then I burned

Yes, but not the cake I'd prefer

What does your protein intake look like? Maybe try adding in more of the zero point proteins like eggs chicken breast or tuna to fill you up a little longer. Maybe adding some more fiber can assist as well. Some people also have tried a complete zero point week to jump start a plateau. If you search this group there are tons of zero point soups and meal ideas. Good luck on your journey and please don’t give up. You are worth it!

Maybe switch to a different plan, like green? Less zero point foods, and for me has better results because it makes you count more things. I needed to switch back to green because I personally was eating way more zero point items than I realized and lost weight much slower. I would get frustrated and lose motivation when I was not on green. Just a thought. Also, maybe eating more or all of your weeklies. I know that sounds weird but sometimes I think our bodies go into starvation mode and want to cling to the weight.

I have had the same issue. I’ve lost 5 kg since November but I’m pretty bad at tracking to be honest. In the first few weeks when it did seem to work, I cooked only off the app. I really tried to do more cooking from the app. I’m going to get back into it tomorrow. I believe it works - I think it’s my own failings letting me down. I also saw all kinds of specialists and in the end the endocrinologist said I have a crap metabolism really. I need to do weights and build muscle to increase metabolism. I’m doing purple and I am happy with it I guess. For me, I have an element of feeling it’s unfair when I see all my slender friends eat a lot worse than I do. It’s frustrating and I hear you!

Have they checked your thyroid? An under active thyroid that is out of whack will make it very difficult to lose weight until it is back in range.
by (290 points)
Yes been on synthyroid for years
by (590 points)
@langille me too. That’s my problem right now; my TSH decided to go crazy even though I take my med every morning. I have it in my head that I may not lose the way I usually do but I know I’m eating healthy and I do feel much better. The number will catch up.

Have you noticed a difference in sizes, but not weight? I know that happened with me. After I started working out, I dropped two sizes but only lost three pounds.

Have you done any other colors? I, too, am purple because I mainly cook foods from scratch and enjoy incorporating veggies in my meals! Maybe try to eat more fish and poultry, less beef and pork?

Is it possible that the A-fib has something to do with it? It affects the circulation, so even with everything else being done carefully, is it possible that the lack of strong blood circulation can be causing other body systems to functions slowly, so things aren't being metabolized the way they might otherwise? Just a thought. I don't know too much about A-fib, but I believe that when it's addressed, people feel better because blood flow is better.

Give it another week and if it’s still not dropping try changing colors.

I am the same way. My daughter is a diet and nutrition coach so she and I have been talking. She thinks it might be my cortisol level and gave me a link to a supplement that could help. She says you should consuit ur dr or pharmacist before taking it if you take blood thinners, antihistamines or antidepressants. I ordered it yesterday and am going to give it a try. I do indeed have high levels of stress in my life! But I just want to see if it changes anything for me. You might look into that.

I have been back on WW since March 2018. I am 60 years old and I have lost 75 pounds. I am losing slow but my doctor is pleased. I have tried all 3 plans and I do better on the blue plan. Sometimes you need to change things up. I have found on weeks that I am not losing I have slacked on my portion control. I have also found that some weeks I am losing inches instead of pounds. I am down from a size 22 to a size 12. I take a multi-vitamin, vitamin b, vitamin d, and a probiotic everyday. You can do this. Just keep working the program.

Purple is designed for the carb eaters, you sound like you aren't eating them. I'd switch to the blue plan. It might be a better fit for your lifestyle.

I find if I have one day a week where I do go way over my daily points and use half of the weeklies I tend to lose more weight. Everyone is different but I think if I stuck to a very strict diet, I wouldn't be losing weight and I've seen it in the past.

@abatement sane here! If I stay perfect I either don’t lose or or it’s minimal, gotta have that cheat day and I lose pounds
by (170 points)
@abatement you have to fool your metabolism once in a while to get it moving again! That’s what cheat meals are for!

@tracheid yes, totally agree!

I had this happen to me. It was recommended by my trainer that I get more fats in my diet- the healthy fats. Olive oil, avacados, eggs, nuts. It meant I eat my weekly pts too. I started losing!

Maybe have thyroid checked. My 16 year-old daughter has always carried more weight than her friends, despite eating in a similar way. She's been on thyroid meds for a few years. FINALLY, seem to have found the right med levels. With zero change to her habits, she's been losing weight.

It is disheartening when we only lose small amounts, but. Count it as a blessing for any loss. Look at a pound of butter and think, that's gone. Stay away from negative thinking. I have lost 10 pounds in 1month, I look at 10 pounds of potatoes and think, at least I don't have to carry that anymore. Hang in there. 1 lb. off, better than one pound on.

I would change to green, the most restrictive of the plans for at least two weeks to see how that works out. To me that response from the coach was placating, change plans, go easy on zero point foods and measure and track. You can do this.

I started at 5'1" & got on a scale & it said 209. Holy cow. I bought a mirror & started WW. Long story short got to 167 & then broke bones. Only thing I changed was drinking way more morning coffee loaded up with Hazelnut creamer - gained 15 lbs. Got past that, started again got to 167 AGAIN, was in a holding pattern. My parents needed me. One passed at 88 & the other at 90. I put myself on hold. When my father passed I was so crushed that I just laid in bed. But I did learn from previous experiences. 3 weeks ago I started back. Lost 4 lbs but on weigh in day I would go nuts but managed to get back to the 166. 4 3 weeks. This week I told myself get all in or get out. I went to green which is what l lost the 40 lbs on. Today I got on scale just to see. 165. 4. A new low! I have been at this for some years now. Finally I the time & the emotional ability to finish what I started. Feeling good. Don't give up, don't quit and when you just can't, take what you have learned and apply where you can. Restarting from where I was. Shows me IF I JUST DO IT, I can maintain. All in & ready to go. Journeys are different but we are in this together!

Try eating a little more for a few weeks. or a little less. Try to figure out where your "fit" is.
by (6.4k points)
I find it shocking that anyone would have to 'figure' out their 'fit'. This is WW. I did the program, and lost my weight 20 years ago. No 'fits'. just a program that made me lose weight. I don't get the different colours. Seems silly to me.

More water - should be drinking 50% of your weight in water (ounces)
by (1.6k points)
@arkose I don’t always agree with that. I am not a water drinker and I have lost 35 pounds. I think the problem is more the purple plan. Some of us need more structure. Good luck
by (1.7k points)
@minda Shulman-Lubin you can totally lose without, but it could be a factor if someone is stalled or struggling and might be worth a try to up intake. But yes, purple is tough to follow IMO - I've been on blue.

In my opinion. Purple would be the hardest for me because it allows things that are significant points in the green plan. And I have an issue with portion control. Especially on “zero point” foods. I’m on green. I feel like it keeps me more in check than the other 2 plans.
by (1.4k points)
SAME HERE, Sarah! But I'm on Blue, beautiful Blue. I love it and have no plans of switching. I got to my goal weight (down 65. 8 pounds or whatever it was that day) in 51 weeks and 6 days. Just finished week #7 at last night's meeting as Lifetime member on maintenance. We started in Jan 2019 when the entire program was Freestyle (which then became Blue) and I figured, Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
by (1.8k points)
@unscrupulous82 that is so awesome! Congratulations! I’m on my 3rd round of WW (don’t know why I think I can do it on my own. I clearly can’t lol). Third time is a charm though, right?
by (1.4k points)
Absolutely, Sarah, it's 100% about having the right mindset, and it sounds like yours is spot-on!

Sorry to say this. eat less. That is it. Especially highest calorie food, whatever it is. Its IMPOSSIBLE not to lose weight, you know that, right? I lost 75 lbs in 7 months by eating 1 carb, 1 fruit, 2 protein, 4 veggie servings and lots of sugar free broth, jello, etc. If I didn't lose 1-2 lbs every 2 days, I stopped the carb and until I did. No time for the gym, did 8 flights of stairs twice a day. Everyone CAN lose weight. Eat less. Period. I mean this to be helpful and kind and wish you only good things.

Joni, my recommendation is to switch plans as purple is clearly not working for you. My recommendation would be blue as it is the middle of the road program--lots of zero point foods, but not too many. Enough points, but not too many and not too few. It's like the Goldilocks and the 3 Bears story--Blue is juuuuust right!

You are doing good, you will be eating like this now until you reach maintenance, you are eating correctly, do not look at what I DID and then nothing, you are looking at this pattern of eating as if I will do it only until I lose weight and then I can go back to the way i was eating before. please do not think that way, not sure why you chose purple, our "leader" says to try a color for at least 3 weeks, as someone mentioned try blue and give it another 21 days, your body is going thru a change, it will come around but do not give up!, look you have done 3 weeks, try 3 more !

I have hip bones! My legs have slimmed and I feel FANTASTIC! The scales are not the only way of success. Hang in there

On blue and average 1-2 pounds a week. Make sure you keep free foods down to serving size. Maybe try changing to blue or green. On blue you have to count potatoes rice and dairy. Make sure you eat your points unless you want to save 4 for a special day. Use a few weeklies. Seems I lost better on days I splurged a little. If exercising you may be gaining muscle and losing fat check measurements or are clothes getting looser?

On blue for 5 weeks. Stay in points, increase exercise the last 3 weeks ( walking 3-5 miles daily). Only to go up and down 1 lb with a real 2-lb weight loss. I have lost in-past (40-lbs) on very restrictive plan and failed to be able to sustain it. This is slow, frustrating and yet I will continue because this is sustainable and my success is not a number on a scale. My success is waking up everyday feeling stronger, moving more easily, and knowing I am healthier. Please keep going on this journey, it gets better and better.
