Try different things. Start with 15 min on treadmill and 15 on elliptical. Another day, try 15 on bike and 15 on sometimes else. As you get more comfortable at the gym, see if they offer appointments to show how to work weights. Most equipment allows you to do workouts that challenge you. Just find what you like. You can keep switching too.

Aqua size doesn’t hurt. Try it you might like it.

I found swimming and aqua fit to be the easiest on my body and it burns a ton of calories. As I got a bit more fit, I added gentle yoga for strength training.

Some gyms have a free training to show you how to use the equipment. If not, get a journal and keep a log. Start w anything and stick to a routine but shake it up. Tons of books out there and PinTrest has a lot of exercises too. But work within your range- push but don’t overdo. You got this.

I worked with a trainer for a couple of years. She had me doing a machine or free weights, followed by bike or treadmill or elliptical for 1-2 minutes in between each machine/weight. That worked very well for me.

Walking doesn’t require special equipment or expensive memberships.

Oh so true. Some of those places can cost a small fortune. Fortunately, there are no-frills gyms out there (like Planet Fitness) that are priced for normal people like us.

I like the rower. It tones your arms and abs while you get the cardio  But switch things up. It adds variety so you don’t get bored and you’ll work different muscles.

I worked with a trainer who came up with a plan for me. I start with intervals on Elliptical then machines for core including the abd cruch 3 ways so it includes lats and arms. It was so worth a few trainer sessions. I don't stay very long but I find I am more compliant about going. Do whatever works for you because everyone's needs are different.

Walking is the greatest foundation to any beginner stages of working out.

Most gyms have a trainer or someone who will give you some ideas. I spent the money to hire a trainer for six sessions and spread those sessions out over a couple months. She taught me what to do and how to do it without hurting myself ( I have artificial knees and back issues). Best money I ever spent.

@walkon I just hired one a month at a time. Pricey but he motivates me and that is great. Worth the money

Walking and if your gym has a circuit try it. That way you will get all the major muscle groups gently

I have a personnel trainer but he is pricey. If your gym has a pool water exercise is wonderfu.

Walking on the treadmill and nothing is going to happen until you sweat which is a min. Of 30 minutes. I watch overweight women come in sit on a bike for 10 mins, 10 on another cardio machine then walk out to post on their Facebook page I worked out. Even had one of these women sit and talk to me while I was running I could do it I know she couldn’t.

This seems pretty judgmental.

@centerpiece I was a women’s fitness instructor for years I can judge if a person is exercising to her best of abilities. Move it to lose it.

I was also a group x instructor for years and what you are saying is simply not true.

Cardio bike, elliptical treadmill. Start very low weights. Muscle burns calories. See if there a a trainer to go over all weights and equipment so that you do it properly to avoid injury. Good luck

If the gym doesn't have a trainer have a staff member show you how to use the equipment properly to avoid the possibility of injury. I go to a local Planet Fitness that has a trainer. They have classes that are included in the membership. Check out what your gym offers in this vein. The classes are a great way to grow muscle tone and strength over time. Remember, like enduring eating habits, physical conditioning takes time. Take things one day at a time. One sit-up leads to two leads to more as time goes by.

Depends on how your knees are for elliptical and stair master, but the treadmill is a good start if they hurt. Walking helps strengthen your core.

If your gym has a circuit, I would do that. Cardio first, then weight lifting in a specific order, cardio to finish, stretch before and after. Takes half an hour before stretching. Easy peasy

Stretching first

I would start with what we all do natural. WALK. Walk in the Mall for 20 mins, or at the Gym, or around your neighborhood if you like your neighborhood. With each week, increase 20 more minutes in your walk. You will have energy and want to walk more. Then if you like consult with a trainer. Good Luck! ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Light weight weights. Do resistance training to strengthen bones.

If you’re just starting, talk to one of the people at the gym have him review the use of the machines to start to get your muscles moving. Don’t overdo cause you won’t keep it up. Slow steady and mix it up so your body stays confused. Good luck.
