I’m thinking about getting some kind of tracker to sync to the activity app. I’m not looking to spend the money for Apple Watch or Fitbit. after all I’m 74, wont use it for much more. Anyone have one that wasn’t so expensive?

Whatever you decide, just make sure it is compatible to your phone/computer. I have a fitbit - bought a chromebook when my laptop died only to find out fitbit and chromebook are not compatible.

I used a garmin, it was the best! Lasted 5 years, on batteries, only died because I wash a lot of dishes, it got too wet

I second the Garmin as I use one as well. I bought mine refurbished off Amazon. Works like a charm.

Fitbit Versa lite. It’s great! My mom and father in law both have it and they love it. Very user friendly! Sold for approx $200, can be found on sale for approx $130

If you just need a tracker, Fitbit has trackers that aren’t smartwatches and would be great for you! They’re not badly priced either.

Are you looking for a watch? If not, MapMyWalk is an app for your phone, tracks your exercise and feeds over to the WW app. doesn’t track your everyday steps though. I do wear a fitness watch, just wasn’t sure what you are looking for. The app is free.

PubuFit watches do many of same things as an Apple Watch except you cannot text or call out.

Do not buy a fit bit. It will count your steps while you drive or while you are sleeping. I hate mine. I cant find anything that has a drive mode or a sleep mode and stops counting steps when you turn said mode on

@longish Do you have one of the wrist ones? I have an older ( discontinued) model) The One. It doesn't do that. The watches count steps when you move your arms. It's a clip on. I will be very sad when it dies.

@longish my fitbit doesn't do that. Just when I am actually moving

You mean you're only 74!?! Invest in yourself and buy the fit bit! Attitude is a lot in any fitness journey. Be kind to yourself. ❤

M 72. Back problem and hip problems so I walked very little. This pushes me. Some days I only walk 3, 000 steps some 6, 000. For me that is huge. I bet it was closer to 1, 000 before. Some time I feel it vibrate and it tell me I need 250 steps that hour so I do it. What 250 steps? Get an inexpensive one. It might just save your life.

MapMyRun app syncs with WW, has GPS so it tracks how far you go and you can choose the activity and it’s free!

I know you said something else, but Fitbit isn’t that expensive and well worth it. I’d recommend getting a Fitbit for sure.

Have you checked with your health insurance provider? Many of them will supply a fit bit (or something like it) for free or greatly reduced price.

At 74, why would you think that you would not need it much anymore? What are you planning to do? Go buy a Fitbit - way cheaper than an apple watch.

@prevocalic Apple insomuch better. I’m older than 74.

@apropos Really. guess I have been quite pleased with my fitbit. haven't tried the apple product

I'm 70 and I have been using my Fitbit Charge 3 for almost a year now. Sometimes it gives me fits and won't synchronize with my Android cell phone, but I find it very helpful in at least counting my steps and monitoring my sleep. I can also add food and water and map my bike rides. Sometimes it's on sale for $99. Try it, you might like it.

I would have never bought an Apple Watch for myself. My sweet son bought me one for Christmas. I can honestly say I never knew how much I NEEDED it! I had always thought my friends who insisted on having everything Apple were somewhat pretentious. Honestly maybe they have improved Firbits & they now do all of this also but, I never had one that: Buzzed on my wrist & showed me a blue arrow for which way to turn for GPS Reminded me to stand at least once an hour Reminded me to do deep breathing when I need it Allowed me to answer phone calls when I can’t find my phone I could go on & like I said I haven’t had a Fitbit in a year, perhaps they do this now also.

I have a garmin that I am very happy with. It tells me steps and floors climbed. I don’t want to know every little detail but I like to know my steps. It dies a bit more but I don’t pay attention to that.
