Cooking question.  I've always measured by cups/ounces/teaspoon, etc.Cooking question. I've always measured by cups/ounces/teaspoon, etc. (not weight). the american way. Is it better to weigh for measurement or does it matter? What should be weighed versus measured in ounces or teaspoon/tablespoons.?

I have heard it makes a difference but I measure your way and as long as you're consistent doing one way or the other I think its fine.

I prefer weighing. More accurate when it comes to calorie counting and weightloss.

Liquids, flour and sugar I do with measuring cups but the rest I do by weight. Less clean up with a scale because I can put the plate or bowl on the scale before turning it on so it zeros then add the food item to desired weight.

Weigh everything. It’s easier. Especially when adding toppings like cheese, nuts, dressing, etc to salads. Or putting PB on toast. Plus then you don’t have to wash all the measuring cups and spoons.

I do all of them depending on the food. I always weigh avocados because I've found I get more per point that way

I weigh meat, flour, potatoes. I find my baking is always perfect when I weigh out the dry ingredients like the flour and sugar, and even the butter. For seasonings, I just wing it or measure is tsp/tbsp etc. and for wet ingredients like milk I just use a measuring cup. Important though if you’re using cups, the glass measuring cups are for wet ingredients and the metal/plastic ones are for dry.
